Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

The only possibility of this happening I can see is a $3000 Titan, possibly with 48GB of memory. There's absolutely zero reason to release anything else any time soon.

Not fully inserting the connector. It's possible to not fully plug in every connector on a PC, why would this one be different?

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

If it's all people plugging it in wrong, people with native power supplies can also plug it in wrong. People who are worried and making extra sure they're plugging it in right are the same people that will have bought 3rd party cables by now, which would explain why no 3rd party cables have been...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

It's possible that's all it is all around. The different wire in and of itself definitely doesn't matter. The only thing it ever could have meant is a sign the adapters were made on 2 supply lines, and maybe one of them was doing something else wrong. 150V wire can definitely carry 12V fine.

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

I checked, I'm not using the adapter anyway so I didn't really care, but it's 300V. I didn't rip it apart enough to see the solder pattern. Seems irrelevant cause there are reports of cooked 300V ones on Reddit now anyway.

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

Indeed. Especially the Corsair cable. It's literally being sold by a PSU company for their PSU. Are they going to tell people that use a new PSU that comes with a 12VHPWR natively they can't use that? Lol...

Even if they really mean that, there's zero way they could prove what cable you used.

The Gigabyte cards come with a bracket thing that bolts to mobo standoffs in your case. It's a neat idea but doesn't really work with an EATX board. I resorted to one of the ones that slides up and down a rod (giggity) and tightens down with a bolt. I think I like that threaded screw style better.

Plenty of 6/8pin PCIE connectors have also cooked over the years. The adapters might be more prone to meltage, but it's not like no 6/8pins ever melted and every 12VHPWR adapter will melt. Both are rare, one might just be an order of magnitude more rare. None of that changes that the adapter...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

To my knowledge every adapter that shipped with every 4090 is Nvidia branded, Nvidia mandated that. So the design Igor found applies to all of them. It's POSSIBLE the 3-connector adapters are properly designed and don't share the problem, because there's no need to bridge connections when you...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

A 90deg adapter wouldn't have solved this completely. Yeah less people would break the solder in the adapter if they were bending it less...but it will still happen in some cases. What they should have done is had 600w 4-plug adapters and 450w 3-plug adapters, not an adapter that can be used...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

https://www.igorslab.de/en/adapter-of-the-gray-analyzed-nvidias-brand-hot-12vhpwr-adapter-with-built-in-breakpoint/ Adapter is totally the problem, not the connector itself. Bridging all the connections like that is completely stupid, neither my Corsair or Moddiy cable do that, they both do 1:1...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia is making a right angle adapter to mail to people for free, and they just want to have some stocked up before they announce it. The irony of the situation is some people are going to be paranoid from this and start checking their cable daily...which will then...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

The parts of the connector that matter (carry high current) are the same as 3080/90FE's and all 3090TI's, it's not brand new. What's new is the size of the cards making it more likely to be smashed up against the side of cases. And it's not like PCIE 8pins have never cooked in the history of...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

From what I've seen yes. On 3090's Gigabyte cards had a boatload of outputs, but it seems like they switched to the standard 3xDP 1xHDMI this time.

See if you can add it in CRU. 4k 165hz would require reduced color depth/chroma subsampling or DSC though, so you also might need to make sure those are enabled. I don't have anything that uses DSC so I don't know if there's some special gotcha to enable it.

    A 4090 at $1600 is definitely a better bargain than a 4080 16GB at $1200 if that's where the price stays. Watch a Strix 4080 be $1500 lol.

It took driving 3 hours each way to Canada yesterday, but mission accomplished! Don't mind my messy trunk, and the second card is for a friend that's out of town and couldn't tag along. It seems like a keeper, it got world #22 (for now) single GPU Port Royal...

The average person considering spending $1600-$1800 on a 4090 is not using a 1080p monitor though, and those are the people Nvidia is trying to get to buy 30series instead. We're talking about the top 5% here, maybe less. I mean looking at the September Steam hardware survey, 0.47% of people...

Overpriced TUF OC seemed to be orderable with an expected ship date of the 20th for nearly an hour on Newegg tonight. I refuse to pay $200 extra for that joke...but it may be a sign of things to come in the near future that they were ok taking that many orders.

People with 2080ti's and below that want a 4090 for $1600-$1800 may definitely cave and get a $900-$1200 3090/3090ti on impulse if they can't get access to a 4090.

Kyle said in this very thread stock was unprecedentedly high. It still could be, with Nvidia just holding it in warehouses.

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

I mean, Nvidia's problem is there's still a big supply of 30series cards they need to sell, and they're worried people will just buy 4090's instead. What can they do about that? Use GFE to target 4090 sales to people that already have 30series cards, and therefore wouldn't be in the market to...

They may be better under water or with AC ducted to an open bench, etc. All the AC results I saw were in "normal" setups where increased temps may have been negating any gains.

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

Yeah, people that want to max a 480hz 1080p monitor aren't "average 1080p gamers", heh. Average 1080p gamers wouldn't be 1080p gamers anymore if they could afford a $1600 GPU.
