I'm quite concerned on this as well...this is pretty much exactly what I'm going to build (except 1600Mhz 7-8-7-24N) and i picked ASUS because I read all the problems with Gigabyte on this.
and now I'm holding off on my build again..damn.
greasedneut please give us an update on the progress...
I'd love to but...$700 is a bit too much for an hard drive.
I'd much rather use half of that and buy a small one right now, and use the remaining half on something quicker and bigger 3 years later.
that's both the pros and cons about fast technology advancement.
Sir, you make total sense to me!
After reading all these, I'll drop both of my plans and go for a single drive that's about 300.
But I have a quite heavy user and I play lots of games and use programs like cs4 and so, so I'll need a little bit bigger than 80gb.
I'm looking at Corsair P128...
Damn, without TRIM sounds like a bad idea since I'm planning on using this new build for at least 6 years...
Hmmm..and Crucial have non-reliable C300?? damn....
now it looks like my only option comes down to single Intel x25m 160GB....
oh well, maybe TRIM will come to RAID soon...at least I hope...
Let's forget about PCI&PCIEs for a sec and back to topic...
I'm having same doubts as well, I mean mouse&keyboard&printers will likely never see the need of USB3, but external HDs certainly will.
So I'm thinking, maybe getting a USB3 mobo IS actually a good idea now since they only have 2 USB3...
I had them in my old 2x2GB rig 2 years ago and they still work perfect.
I guess that was the good times for OCZ...
G.Skill looks like the decent and inexpensive brand to me right now
Damn, that's a lot of replies lol.
anyway thanks for all the help, I think it makes sense and I'll go for Thermaltake or Corsair.
The only reason I'm thinking about PSU savings is because my budget is capped at $1800, like absolute cap.
So I was wrestling around on the edge like 10 bucks over...
Just heads up, they cost roughly the same on newegg. Crucial C300 at 429-ish and so does 2 Intel X25-M 80GB.
So I'm getting this new build hopefully very soon when HD 5870 comes down in price (just 20~50 will do), and I'm still torn between these options.
I'm getting the Asus X58 mobo with...
Hello everyone, I'm definitely building a gaming system as soon as HD 5870 goes down on price when GTX 480 become available.
I've been stuck at Newegg on which power supply to pick from, because I've had some bad experiences with power supplies.
I've pretty much read though everything on the...
HD5999 is actually doable, just do GTX 295 style of 2 cards. their GPU don't get too hot nor draw too much power, so quad-core should be possible.
cuz I really wish it's real.
Are you guys crazy?
all the big multi-story building firms I worked for are still using WINDOWS NT!!
and we even had 2 PENTIUM I! and they work better than P4s.
"switching From XP" is just a wet dream, and I don't think they'll get rid of NT for quite some time either.
Above my thread shows today's:
geeks fighting nerds over computer brands
Round 1938329439248
damn, if you pay, she'll stay. it doesn't get any easier than that son.
they failed actually TWICE, the second time is at the very end when loading the flower and desktop profiles.
fail...double fail...which is good demonstration for windows
There's definitely some problem..because I have 8800GT and I have 8x aa and all max for TF2.
I actually have to turn aa down to 4x for L4D, so...
tried disable/enable vsync?
Ya and April 6th is the new release for gfx card, i suggest you wait for that and see what comes out.
and if nothing, I recommend GTX 295 even though I like ATI more, because it's just faster.
4870 1GB
Crysis does not scale well/at all with multi-GPUs (including 4850x2)
so if you want it because you want to play Crysis (or Warhead) at good quality, you would get a single 4850 performance.
That took my money away from x2, because any of these cards will handle most other games...

"The iPod Touch 2G is now another member of the pwned for life family. It has a fatal flaw in its bootrom that means you will always be able to pwn these devices no matter what firmware updates come...
That's probably not included in warranty...not even extra protection plans...
if the mobo doesn't have VGA slot...oops...mobo upgrade, ram upgrade, cpu upgrade, snap!
