How about that...I thought this was a rip, but email says shipped! Funny thing, earlier this week I deleted the wfpuser stuff off the machines I was letting them spyware thinking those shysters...then out of the blue I got a shipment notification.
Put NB, FSB, PLL's back to minimums. The rest back to auto. Way too much volts for an 8400 at the fsb you want. P5K-E is based on the deluxe...so I'm saying this based on what my deluxe is doing. 4.4 Orthos stable on minimums/autos. (with a crapload of vcore :p). Oh yeah, go back to the...
Here's my E8400 (updated)

I just gotta say...that is one sweet case. I'm thinking the gf's A05 might be getting exchanged with this thing, I really like the features (as well as the V-series style).
Ha, looking at the NEC also, eh? I was all over that idea...but then the taxes killed the deal for me. I can live with my current 2407, but should you really want the NEC, best deal out there now it seems.
Looks like I'm moving to 45nm with a 8400...tired of waiting for vapor-ware 8500. Listed batch seems good checking EVA2000's testing on the Xeon verson of that batch over at I4memory.
Wow, my little "how much crap can you cram into a TJ07" machine was an inspiration, eh?:D. Thanks!
I gotta say, your build surely came up with some really neat ideas, I like em! I cant wait to see the revised version of your build. And if someone wants to have a hot rod computer but...
Wow, that's really tempting...although what's around the corner might be really good instead of this. Hmmm, to move from GTS to GTX, I cant decide, lol.
Petra's has the 'curved' blade YL's (like the Nexus fans), Everyone else has the 'straight' blade variety YL's. The curved test better, so it's a no-brainer...Petra's. Cant beat the service from there either!
It's not so much the multiplier, but the ability to OC farther. Over in AU where they had retail shipments a month or so ago, the 8500's were apparently getting on average ~200mhz higher stable OC's than the 8400's on less volts. That is worth it to me (I like lots of overkill speed :D)
Wow, at first I was like...yeah right. So then I checked out how my BS03 with a 'reversed' YL @ 7 volts was...and I was very surprised. So I made a video of it too! Here's my version of this affect with a BS03 installed in case, fans going back to front, and all fans 7 volt'ed YL's except the...
The gf's 2180 is parked at 3.2 Orthos stable @ 1.4 vcore on an XBX2. Load temps are kinda are high for that vcore/speed. My take is there is some limitation with the non-soldered die/IHS interface creating thermal instability, I've been considering removing the IHS on that CPU...but not much...
600mhz P3, ahh the memories. My first brand new computer (PowerSpec, ohhh ahhhh) had that, before it was garbage-picked flakey parts loosely combined for me. I thought that thing was bad-azz until I discovered that I needed an actual discrete video card to successfully play games once the...
I dunno, OCAU forums seemed to indicate that the 8500's were better OC'ers than the 8400's, retail for retail. I'm waiting on an 8500. I'm sure that I dont need more than what I got now...but hey, why drive a Mustang when you can have a Porsche, lol.
Basing air results of 1M Super Pi and Crashed Prime runs isnt really a good basis to discount the value of watercooling as you really arent testing anything.
I'll just say my E6600 couldnt get to 3.85GHz 12hr+ Orthos stable on only air (using a lapped Tuniq/IHS combo). Definately needed...
With this new DD-Live support driver have any of you guys found that if you enable CMSS3D to get rear speaker surround vs. just the L/R out over optical using DDLive, causes your analog out (I'm using headphones) to die only playing extremely low bass? I have to turn off the CMSS3D to get...
Yup, the new M0 100C Tjunction reference shows just much the E21xx die to IHS thermal compound blows...or maybe it isnt 100C and really is 85C spec. Intel isnt telling how to read temps, that's for sure. I kinda wonder though, I have a E2180 lapped with a lapped Tuniq & Coolabotory LM running...
Kinda interesting discovery...I actually read the Netgear website for the version of wireless NIC this added desktop is using...they only talk about WPA, not WPA2 on it. My wireless is WPA2. Funny how it worked anyway, although sometimes it would go nuts with the dropouts/not seeing the...
I had one a while back, it is nice. Works very well for a double slot G80 card when on low, very quiet. Takes the heat coming out of the side of the card and gets it out of the case. Worked great to lower case temps in my old P180.
BS-03 from Performance PC's. Page back one page in this thread, there is some discussion of the expansion slot cooling options available for this case.
Yep, the router firmware is probably less than a year old, the Netgear wireless NIC has the latest driver (from ~2005, lol). Does anyone have a wireless network that doenst require a 'repair connection' at least once a week if not much more?
I dont have much experience with 'perfectly' working wireless, but here's a new problem I've seen. I put another desktop onto my network with a Netgear card (~2-3 yr old) and occasionally it loses connection with my Linksys WRT54G router (running WPA2, and MAC filtering). Sometimes after...
It could be. I'm not sure how the single slot 8800 cooling solutions work, but I know when I had my double slot 8800 GTS on air I found that an Antec double expansion slot exhaust blower was a big help getting the portion of the GTS exhaust that went out the side of the card out of my case...
YL's from Petra's have the curved blade profile like the Nexus fans. Jab-tech have what is known as 'straight blades'. Petra's get them direct from Yate Loon, other outlets get them from some distributer that gets them from ???. Check Xtreemsystems forums about this, there are a couple...
