8800gt and 8800gts 640 are about equal, the 640 has better cooling and more memory / memory bandwidth but doesn't have as many stream processors (except some special editions which say "96+"). If you don't have EVGA / XFX / BFG it would be worth it to trade it so you get the lifetime...

Yeah, it was just the only laptop I could find quickly that had the option of both 8600gt / 8800gtx mobile series. It also started at over $3k.

I'm pretty sure that 9800GX2 will support two monitors... why else would it have two connectors? NV can already do sli multimonitor with the quadros, they are just holding it back for whatever reason. Since ATI will have crossfire multimonitor support, NV will have to release theirs too.

You'll have to look at the original reviews for the 8800gts / gtx series cards for info like that. Because of the way [H] reviews, they spend a lot more time testing, so throwing more cards, especially old ones, into the mix is a waste of their time. People generally know how old cards perform...
