    Gigabyte Holiday [H] Give-Away!!!

I could really use a great new Gigabyte motherboard to kick start my next computer... How can you call a computer with 2GB of DDR [H] when you're trying to do graphics work?

web design business - use premade cms or no?

I originally started out html sites and then upgraded to php includes. This help to speed up the process some, but I found it wasn't flexible enough in some regards. I had some clients wanting a editing interface instead of having me handle their updates. I considered options such as...

Hosting: For those of you that have been long-term (1+Year) with your host

I'll add another vote for Site5. I've been with them a little over two years now and had great service the entire time despite issues with some of the servers and such. The new owners (Ben and Joel) took over in Oct 08 and have been working very hard to improve things. Hardware upgrades...

    Reseller Hosting?

If you want to go the shared route check out Site5 or HostGator (I use Site5 and a friend has HG, both work well), if you want a VPS to resell off check out WiredTree. The first two also have dedicated if you want to go that route.

    Css Float Overlapping

I just quickly looked over the code and the only thing that comes to mind is I don't see the positioning for the z-index to work. You must have position absolute or relative for z-index to work otherwise the setting is worthless. http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_pos_z-index.asp I think that...

Hit a Folding (Stanford) milestone? Post it here:

I just noticed I reached (well passed) the 500,000 mark :) The part I find cool is this was mainly done by a quad core system and and my notebook so 5 uni clients until last week (added GPU).

    Recommendation for Webhost

I will add a third suggestion for Site5. I've been with them for two years now and only suffered outages when The Planet's been down. They have a great forum with active management involvement including one of the owners. You can get a dedicated IP for your account, but if you want more than...

Four Reasons Why iPhone Owners Hate AT&T

We had AT&T a long time ago with one of the little nokia brick phones.... Granted a brick would have worked better and as such we switched to verizon... Wonderful service and it worked great for me! I had loads of bars all over and enjoyed as most people struggled with their push to talk with...

Could use another set of eyes

Hello, The errors I see are mainly related to how the flash is included in the site. I agree with the others in that the flash should be shot, but regardless here are solutions: The solution to the flash inclusion would be to use this: http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/ The solution to the...

    Huge distribution lists with Exchange

If I recall correctly this is required as they provide opt-out services in the email footers. If you manage the list on outlook/exchange then they can't honor your clients request and would therefore be sending spam to the client. If you want outlook integration you might try looking into...

    IE7 Issue

Hello, I am working on a layout and can't seam to get IE7 to show the main content correctly. I have been over the code several times and the problem is likely staring me down, but I just don't see what's causing the problem. Other than shooting IE7 any suggestions on how I can fix this...

    CMS vs Frameworks

You might want to check into modx (modxcms.com) plus foxycart. It seams to be a decent option, but I can't say I do a lot with ecommerce. The other suggestion would be magento, but it's a real pain to get setup let alone working and templated.

    Reliable Hosting for Corp Website?

Whata you talking bout! I see responses to my LOW tickets in <10 minutes typically. Oh, for what it's worth 2x what he said or I guess 8x as I know a few other people who use them. The support is great even if you don't know much about servers, the setup is fast, the isolation is wonderful...

    Website creation advice

I have found modxcms to be very user friendly and very easy to get the desired output (seo friendly and all) it's got a very active community to help with any/all problems related to the system. It lacks a built in forum, but I consider that a good thing as they should focus on the cms and...

    Which CMS?

I have found modx to be the easiest system to use and make custom templates. Design your standard site and where you want content you would put something like [*content*] that and the cms is designed to do what you tell it to do not it telling you what you can do.

I have found that most @************** addresses are spammers/never used so I have actually blocked account creation from the domain. CSS Bugs

Hello, I fixed the css bug, granted it was complaining about the color. The bulk of the errors are part of the gallery script I have on the site and are mainly browser targeting and in no way related to the problems. On a side note I was able to correct the problem with the top text so...

Deciding between a Dedicated and Shared server & a phpBB question

Hey, If you only get a few users at a time let's say 5 users then you will likely be fine on shared hosting. The servers are typically very powerful servers so if the other users on the server don't have much load then you will have more resources to use for your site. I would go ahead...

    Quick question on website content.

You could use something like modxcms (www.modxcms.com) which would allow you to give him a simple online editing interface to build/update a website. You would likely want to use the maxigallery addon for his artwork, but that shouldn't be very hard to accomplish.

My mom uses the Rebel XSi with the 18-55mm IS lense and it's a nice light setup. It's easy to use and if you take the time to learn more about it quite a powerful camera. The 75-300 is also a good lense, but it's not overly fast. It works well for sports shooting and it's an otherwise good...

    Layout Bug

That fixed the menu positioning issue, but I noticed it didn't solve another problem that I thought was related. In IE6 if you hover over any of the menu buttons it shifts the layout (and menu) down some. Any ideas on how to fix that problem? Oh, I do have the IE toolbar and yea it stinks.
