Probably can do this without dismantling the monitor? Turn it up and place wet towels on it and use a strong tape or suction cup to lift the coating film?
So it turned out to be a toss-up between the Fujitu-Siemens L22-1W and the Samsung 225BW.
Looking at the grayscale rendering and viewing angles I wouldn't want any of them....unless I am just buying it just for gaming.
You can use it for CRT as well....its just something to aid you to calibrate by eye. The AdobeRGB1998 will work. Make sure you use a profile loader to load the profile. Try a free command line one here: http://www.etg.e-technik.uni-erlangen.de/web/doe/xcalib/
LCD's are dead, but only thing reasonably priced at moment and widely available. SED will be the only thing considered near perfect (size, multiple resolutions, color, response rate, contrast).
The NEC 20WMGX2 is the best all purpose panel there is right now. It is much better in movies and color accuracy than the Dell 2007. It has has everything the Dell offers and more.
The plant to manufacturer SED is under construction now :D
The dream of unlimited colors and 100,000:1 contrast ratio all at less than 1 ms response rate is near...
I think what happens when you fool with the cards gamma is you are just adding on top of the gamma level windows is using. Its always best to leave the graphics card settings at default and use/edit a system wide color profile. Plus Nvidia doesn't recognize all profile versions.
I'd load...
I been fooling with calibrating my new NEC 20wmgx2 with a old Spyder2Express because my PRO version is on loan with my sis (grrrrr). Anyway, I thought this be a interesting discussion with those who do have the express version of the colorimeter. First thing I learned is you cannot use the LCD...
I ended up setting my brightness to 20% and left contrast at 50%. I calibrated it in photo mode with DVM off. This thing is so bright that colorimeter will set wrong gamma if left to default.
I'll second everyone who said the NEC 20WMGx2 is the best available right now. I just picked one up for $525 after $50 rebate. You ain't going to find any other LCD that can compare with LG's new AS-ISP panet. It's the best all arounder for under $900.
Well that could be, but this card has ran 1680x1050 under DVI with a dell, but could be something qirky with the NEC and card. I'll try it on another machine with a much newer card and see if problem continues. But as it is now I cannot find anything wrong with the output under VGA and this...
hmmmmmmm I switched to VGA and then was able to select 1680x1050.
NEC doesn't ship drivers with this model, but you can download them from their web site. However, their drivers are not signed for this model and XP bitches and warns monitor may not operate fully. So I dunno what the story is...
Glad to hear the price has dropped to mere idle change for the common man :D
I think your link proves a point I made in another post in regards to using a wide gamut. Anything way outside of sRGB will only be of pratical use for printing....if you try and share it digitally then you run a...
Karl Lang makes some interesting points about how useless a large gamut is:

Sure if the seller will transfer the warranty over to you using Dell's online warranty transfer....AND if the seller will tell you whether it is a IPS panel or not.
Well Steve, they are not glorifying the terrorists like the American liberal media or liberal Democrats do daily. The ad doesn't strike me as being offensive, maybe poor taste, but not offensive.
Horrible 150°/135° viewing angle. Stick with a panel that has at least 170 degree all around if price is the only consideration. I wouldn't trust them retail sites reviews at all. If a monitor is delivered quickly, destroys retina cells out of the box and has no dead pixels then guys give it...
My advice is to look for something with a 170 degree or more viewing angle. You can find them in the low budget range of $200 with a little surfing effort.
Max. Resolution 2046 x 1536
Dot Pitch 0.21 mm
Those numbers are nothing to sneeze at and will allow for some serious digital image editing work. This is a very good deal you found.
I'll just say that NEC 12-bit LUT is a godsend for B&W colorization. The NEC 2090UXi is the ONLY LCD monitor that *I* have found that can render the subtile color tones of a retouched B&W without rendering most of the colors I choose as grayscale!
Using factory default color profile is useless unless your graphics card can also use it. The trick is getting both card and monitor to use same settings.
