I'm buying those $25/$50 Planetside 2 station cash coupons from new video cards. $5/$10 each.

Has anyone on [H] gotten a beta invite yet? I'm working on getting one right now (should have it later today, if things go as planned.) From what my buddy says it's a blast, and after reading a large chunk of the website I have to say I'm stoked to give it a shot...
I am finalizing my plans for a new mITX build and want to sleeve/accent the PSU cables with some sleeves. Seems easy enough but I'm having some difficulty finding orange sleeves! Anyone with some insight on where I can locate orange ones?
I noticed a non-breaking annoyance when typing in hardforum.com vs. www.hardforum.com.
- If I type in hardforum.com, the display (in IE at least) shows http://hardforum.com/ ... this is expected.
- If I type in http://www.hardforum.com (again, in IE) it shows http://hardforum.com// ... for...
I have a friend who is looking to build a new rig for a LAN party in a few weeks and he asked me about his motherboard choice. Unfortunately I haven't looked at new motherboards for over a year so I can't provide the kind of advice he'd need, but I'm sure someone here has a few thoughts...
I purchased this card at a Best Buy location in Joliet, IL over this past week for $189.99. The tag in front of the product was yellow and indicated it was on closeout. It was on an end cap in the PC accessories section near the hard drives, but I'm sure this is store-specific.
I know this is a bit unusual for the [H]ot|Deals section, but Prometric is offering 15-25% off select exams for certification.

No, this is not a discussion thread about the relative merits or experience in obtaining a certification. I'm clarifying this now for the inevitable...
Yeah, they seem to be discouraged these days, but after a year of plugging along post-1.5M I finally hit 2M early last week. I didn't think to make a post until now, but here it be!
Also, as of the time of this posting, apparently I passed someone because I have a green arrow for the first...
I want to build an SFF that will be suitable for LAN gaming, and not much else. Currently I lug around a mid-tower that isn't TOO bad, but I know I can get something significantly smaller without breaking the bank. Ideally I'd like to build something that's comparable to my existing build in my...

Krosswirz is doing their annual New Years Event from December 31, 2008 until January 4, 2009! $40 entry which includes a few bonuses (New Years toast, some food, etc.)
E-Mail links are available on the website and the event is RSVP only this year due...
I have a reservation on the WoW:WotLK Collector's Edition at a Gamestop near where I live, but I don't play WoW anymore and have no interest in starting an account again.
Any thoughts on what I should do with it? So far the only thing someone's told me to do with it is "Sell it on eBay with a...
I bought a domain last week for my extended family so we can do things like personalized E-Mail addresses for E-Mail Forwarding and so I can set up directories for family members who are interested in being their own webmaster via subdomains. I'm having a difficult time thinking of what...
I have a PC that I am interested in wiping down, but I only want to wipe the free space. The machine is running Windows XP Home Edition, probably with SP2.
Any suggestions on free products, or really glowing reviews of low-cost products, that can get the job done?
Since I'm heading down to this LAN event in Quincy, IL (near the Missouri border) I thought I'd post to see if anyone else was interested in heading there as well.
http://www.krosswirz.net/
I've met the folks at other LAN events and they're a pretty decent group. I haven't been to the LAN...
I'm having an issue with my current SMP FAH (5.91) instances. For some odd reason the first instance (FAH #1 on my PC) will get to 49% (right on the edge of 50%) complete, and it'll EUE every time. This has been happening for a week now and I have no idea if I'm getting points for the early...
I just spent about 30 minutes searching the internet for a way to E-Mail a bug report in for an inconsistent behavior with Internet Explorer, but couldn't find reliable contact information to submit a bug report with.
Anyone have any advice on how to continue?
So this is a follow-up to my hit thread where I described that I'd be getting a Q6600 at work. I'm on the Vista 32-bit machine right now and I am running 2 SMP 5.91 console clients without issue.
I do have a concern, though.... it appears that the p2665's that I got are going to take roughly 3...
Yep, thread title says a lot! We hired a new guy and have a new PC coming from Dell for him some time this week. I had a chat with the boss and got him to agree to give me the PC, and the new guy gets my old PC. Specs for both:
Old PC:
-Pentium D 920 @ 2.80GHz
-4GB RAM (333MHz, 5-5-15)...
I noticed on the GPU2 client I'm getting about 3800 PPD. I am using an 8800GTX 768MB (got it when they first came out.)
Is this average/normal for the GPU listed, without any overclocking, tweaks or adjustments?
Would it be practical to have a "Thread Started" date/time above/below/around the "Last Post" date/time, to assist in locating (and subsequently ignoring) posts that are well past their prime?
Could we get a sticky/announcement in the LAN Parties subforum stating what is expected of a LAN party post? All too often I see "ZYX Lan Party rulz come today" in the subject, which tells me NOTHING about where it is or what date(s) it is on.
Some quickie guidelines that could be used...
Why are you unable to assign an icon to your message in the Webmastering and Programming subforum? I noticed you can do it almost anywhere else EXCEPT there! I like assigning icons to each post! :p
Are there any upcoming LAN parties in Illinois? I don't seem to see nearly enough Illinois LAN parties advertised on here, which is annoying because I've been looking for one in northern Illinois (anywhere from Rockford across to Chicago, down to Bloomington and across to Peoria is fine, plus...
Why are there so many sticky threads in the "Displays" forum? I can understand why the somewhat-outdated "TFT Technology Breakdown" thread is stickied, but why is the FW900 thread or the 37" Westinghouse thread stickied?
The FW900 reads just like most of the Display reviews on these forums...
Well I took a peek at the statistics over on the OC and noticed I broke 500k! (over 510k even!) Not only that but I got my 500th WU either today or last night. :)
Hmm.... I think most people thank others at this point. I'd like to thank those few folks who insisted on ramping up their points...
http://www.codeproject.com/gadgets/FoldingHomeUserStats.asp
CodeProject posted user eitjepn's "How to create a Folding@Home Vista Gadget" code on their site. Thought a few people here might enjoy a look-see.
http://www0.us.ioccc.org/main.html (I linked the North America site, their main site keeps getting cludged up due to security flaws)
Just curious, but anyone on here ever enter the contest? Back in college and buddy and I were interested but we never found enough time to write a truly...
CoolerMaster Centurion RC-534-KWN1-GP - in case anyone doesn't check my sig, that's the EXACT brand/model I currently have.
Unless the cost of cooling approaches the cost of a new case, I'm more interested in salvaging my current case rather than swapping everything out in to a new housing. I...
I have known for a little while now that I need to get a fan on that northbridge ASAP to assist with cooling issues. I checked this thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1158981&highlight=DS3+northbridge but I didn't see any specific brand/model/suggestions (just generic...
At work I have a machine with the following specs:
Pentium D 920 (Presler core, 65nm, 2.80GHz) which supports the EM64T instruction set. It has 2GB of RAM in it and that's about all I know (it's a Dell, not that the info is useful.) I'm incapable of dismantling or in any way modifying the...
I've been folding for the [H]orde for a few months, but the numbers have been steadily decreasing over time. I fold on my home machine (listed in my sig), but I also run on my work machine with the following specs:
Intel Pentium D 920 (Presler 65nm 2.8GHz, dual core of course) w/ 2GB of RAM...
I was just reading the NCIX letter packaged with the BenQ (typed out by user karadur : http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1030535297&postcount=2159 ), and I noticed the first line there: "....BenQ's award winning FP241W 24" LCD monitor."
My random thought: is there a computer monitor...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185020 - Link for those who are unfamiliar with the product.
I am interested in getting this, but the fan speed and other details don't seem that fantastic. My case specs are in my sig--the case has almost literally no air flow in the...
Well, I need to have my new computer monitor by the time I leave for vacation on February 8th. Ideally I would want it prior to this date for setup/testing and whatever else.
My ideal choice is the Dell 3007WFP-HC, but I haven't found a way to purchase one yet so that is out.
My next ideal...
Well, January is coming up fast.... that means it's tax check time! *CHEER* I really don't need to have the tax check to afford a new monitor, but it gives me an excuse to justify a new computer monitor purchase to parents/relatives/future girlfriends. :)
I'm between:
- BenQ FP241W (Retail)...
