If you don't have special needs like PS2 emulation -- which SSSE3 is a MUST -- then the 1090T hands down, which will probably be cheaper if you wait a few weeks.
I would've gotten a 1090T over the i7-2600k I bought in June had 1090T had SSSE3, would've saved me quite a bit.
I searched and searched to no avail, and e-mailed Realtek and got no human response.

A $30 fee would be more than reasonable even if it's manufacturer defect. I didn't check the pins beforehand as I had assumed they would be fine given the protective plate being over it. Obviously I wont make that mistake again.
