Not sure. You can play as the space marines though. The game takes place 10 years after Chaos Rising, in the same system, which is even more wracked by war now than before, and more different factions are involved. The intro video does a good job of setting up the scenario.
I played...
Screw the emperor. I'm going to tackle the campaign as "da orks". Steam just let me start playing, and after a brief tutorial mission (which is skippable), you go to a screen where you choose your faction and start the campaign. Looks awesome.
Except it didn't really work like that. I don't know about the sequel, but the original game was ridiculously easy, even on nightmare. Only the very lowest levels and a few of the tougher boss battles gave pause. Even for those, it was usually just a matter of finding the "trick" to win the...
I was a huge fan of TAK back in the day. Not really a traditional RTS, and stuff like army movement and tactics take a bit of getting used to, but definitely a fun game that is worth playing.
Not just so selective with RPGs, but with games in general. With the unfortunate fact of RL intruding, there is only so much time. Who wants to waste it playing a game they are not going to particularly enjoy playing?
DA and DA2 push the boundaries of what can justifiably be called RPGs...
I tried the demo last night and was suitably impressed.
People are over in the other thread bitching about the crappy DA2 demo, but this one was a shining example of how one should be done to effectively sell your game. A video showing all the features and cool stuff in the game followed by...
There are settings in the advanced options for each power plan that also allow the computer to wake at random times if not disabled. These are the ones I always have to check upon each fresh install of Win 7.
I only had a problem with sleep after SP1, and the HD Audio thing didn't work. Apparently I was not the only one having a problem though.
The explanation and hotfix download are in KB2495523.
I installed it, and now my computer sleeps properly.
Apparently I was not the only one having a problem with my computer not sleeping after SP1.
The explanation and hotfix download are in KB2495523.
I installed it, and now my computer sleeps properly.
You know, I'm not really sure I see what the problem is that merits the long discussion in this thread or in the others that have been about this subject.
I just perused the "New Releases" and "Coming Soon" game lists on Steam, and I found exactly 4 of 121 games that are $59.99. Everything...
Installed through Windows Update yesterday. It seemed to go fine, except now my computer will not sleep. Every time I try, the computer blue screens and completely shuts down. Upon restart, I get the "Windows did not shut down normally" screen. Very upsetting.
You have to admit though that PCGamer throws around way too many 90+ scores. As a subscriber (it's the only PC Games mag left), I enjoy their insider interviews, previews and columns more than their reviews, which I feel are too airy-fairy and positively stilted, to the point of not wanting to...
That's actually a pretty good point.
It may not play like DA or be really like DA2, but that doesn't mean that it will necessarily be a bad game. As long as it is judged on it's own merits and not just as a sequel, it may do fine.
An example is DoW2, which was nothing like the original...
I liked the first game. It wasn't hardcore RPG enough for me, but it was still fun. I will probably pick up the second eventually, maybe when Steam has a sale.
The most intelligent comment that someone made after reading the article was that this is nothing new. Even if the video game was the inspiration for the attack, books, movies, and even music have been the inspiration for violent acts for years and years now. It is just one more tool that the...
Just use Turbotax or any of the other big name sites and don't worry about it. You could get all touchy-feely like a friend of mine does and actually buy a physical copy of the software if it makes you feel better to have your data stored in your computer rather than online.
I don't think...
You guys are too suspicious. Not everybody is an IT pro. Some of us are scientists and computer hobbyists like me. Granted, I have never come close to doing research to cure cancer, but I have worked in a lab, and I've seen that most scientists care about science, and don't really have a clue...
Seems like kind of a waste to have this fancy and expensive of a motherboard to support what is essentially a mainstream CPU and chipset that will be used mostly in budget boxes.
You are paying for access to the internet, not the internet itself. None of the money you pay your ISP gives you any ownership rights to any information you find while surfing whatsoever. On the contrary, you still have to pay for access to games, or pay to rent movies or buy licenses for...
Steam has thousands of games. I'm sure some people were buying some games, but maybe not the ones that were just on sale. Actually, the opposite usually happens to me. I'll buy a game, and it will go on sale a week or two later.
This year, I bought several games, including the entire THQ...
This game looks great. There are a number of games I am looking forward to this year, and this is one of them.
PCGamer did a preview of the game last month and they seemed pretty impressed.
I already had most of the games on sale today, but I had been waiting for Settlers 7 to go on sale. At 50% off, it's not bad. I bought the gold edition for $29.99.
I know this is not constructive, by Why God Why play MM9?
That was a crappy, buggy piece of shit game. Seriously, don't waste your time.
If you want to relive some of the better MM classics, they are on gog, who has a good record for win 7 compatibility.
This thread has strayed so far off topic,it's not funny, but I guess I'll continue it.
I guess I must be a real fool then, or a sheep, or a tool, or whatever else people have been called in this thread. Not only do I buy games on day 1, I usually buy the CE!
I've been trying to think of...
I played through the openings for both the goblins and worgen this weekend. I loved them both. Gilnaes is probably what Duskwood should have been, and the setting and quests were very well done and atmospheric. That being said, the worgen just bugged me, so I will be rerolling the worgen mage...
Cox has been steadily upgrading speeds in the Las Vegas area. The preferred package that I have just went from 10/768 to 12/1. Pretty funny that the old speed wouldn't have been considered by the FCC to be "broadband."
You might not make as much as you think. Crafted goods sell, but ore and herbs are everywhere now and very easy to harvest (seriously, in 1KNeedles, sometimes 3 mithril nodes will spawn right next to each other, and then respawn minutes later - I collected 125 ore in about 45 min this morning)...
Southern Barrens (30-35) is a mix of old and new, but it is pretty well structured as a whole. I chose it because as an orc I liked the idea of killing the encroaching humans and other allies. SB leads to Dustwallow (35-40), which is EXACTLY the same as it was. If you liked it before, you...
That's what I'm thinking as well.
I'm not sure why everyone chooses to focus on the combat mechanics as an integral part of what an RPG is. To me, an RPG implies more of being able to customize the stats, abilities, and gear of your character, along with making meaningful choices that...
Not really an RPG anymore, but it may still be a fun game. Just like I still enjoyed DoWII even though it wasn't a traditional RTS like the original DoW.
That's the main thing I miss. There is no real incentive to explore the world any more, plus there's no more of the "Oh, shit, that mob's too high level, maybe I'd better leave and come back here later."
That being said, around the early 40's leveling is starting to slow down somewhat (which...
I played for about an hour this morning before work. I started an orc warrior last week, and I am up to 42 after about 40 hours played. I didn't have any problems logging on, and there weren't that many players in my zone (1000 Needles).
You blow through the zones quickly, so leveling is...
Did none of you read the article?
AOL is in better shape than you think. They have 2.4B in revenue, with 1B from dial-up, and 1.4B from ads. They also have 600M in cash, and almost no debt. Sounds like a pretty well run company to me, although the article did note that they are losing...
I'm not using heirlooms. And I'm not confusing length with difficulty. You apparently haven't been in the game too long if you don't remember what a pain in the ass it used to be to solo level with warriors, especially if you are playing like me and trying to avoid death at all costs. We used...
Well, since so many people don't seem to enjoy the leveling process, and want to speed through it to get to the end-game, how about this idea?
We are all supposed to be "heroes" right? So start everybody at 55 (or higher) like DKs. The old world can be converted to one big high level zone...
