They did overclock the FX, but instead of blindly following what AMD suggested, decided not to disable cores, which, IMO presents a more accurate representation of the CPU's overclocking capabilities i.e, [H] got it right. The point you need to see is that, it was not possible to OC both CPU's...

There are other possibilities: a) AMD could not make enough. b) Stores threw it out with the trash. :)

Unless I am misssing something obvious, how is this any different from the zillion other heat-pipe HSFs? Perhaps the fan is more efficient, but I am hard pressed to believe that you can save any significant amount of energy. I guess you can spin numbers to make them look great, 40% of what? 1 nJ?

It has been a while since I checked that calculator, but it seems reasonably accurate. 582W for this rig: Q6700 @3.5GHz HD4870 790/1100 2Gb DDR2 2 SATA HDDs 2 36Gb Raptors 1 DVD RW Antec 900's fans USB stuff 10% capacitor aging.

Looks like Intel have laid an egg. Who the hell would pay $250 for this? The CPU VRM arrangement looks a bit different from the arrangement seen on other boards. I have mostly seen even number of phases. It would be interesting to see the PWM controller being used.

This unit did not exceed ATX specs on ripple. Perhaps the OEM was too lazy to make changes to the packaging.It is probably an 800W unit that was stretched out to 1010W. Not worth the money either. PS# The Fail logo is brilliant! I wonder how much flak Paul's going to cop for this...:D

You should also remember that if your remove the CPU bottleneck, the GPU power consumption will soar. According to Hardware Canucks, their Quad @ 3.5 was proving to be a bottleneck. For a single card, that unit should be enough. If you are doing something extreme (cooling wise), I would go along...

I will go for the 4870 if it is sub $300. My current 3870 clocks very well and has given me no problems.

How can you say this is a "TRUE" 16 phase design, when the buck regulator is a 6-phase device? Also, having more phases does not equate to better power stability. If it were so, everybody and their brother would have boards choke full with 100n-phase VRM's.

If you like OCZ branded units and are looking for the bling bling stuff, the Evostream units should fit the bill. They are LOUD when pushed though...

I'd go for the VX550 simply because it may be cheaper (a big plus!) and I prefer Indy regulation to group regulated units.

That is because it is most likely a Delta Electronics built unit. Delta are solid and put out what they are rated at. Efficiency would be pretty ordinary, but regulation wise, they are rock solid. We have 16 Dells/Delta's that are running for > 5 yrs with ZERO hardware problems.

56ZF (Etasis) would be my choice. It is certainly superior to the Enhance 56F. I duon't know much about the other TT you listed.

I have pretty much the same setup as the OP and I hit an FSB wall at 486 with my E6550+P5K. I'd be interested to know what the OP can do on his setup. :)

It can be the PSU if you have eliminated the motherboard and other components. If it is under warranty, RMA the PSU. If it is not, open it up and check for bulging caps on the secondary side.
