Sig has system specs.
It was mainly an OS issue that has been resolved since then (upgraded to x64), but still cannot get a decent overclock out of it.
Although I got it to load windows at 3.85Ghz, it crashes after 10 mins or so.
My old E6600 was at 1600Mhz FSB with the Vcore around the...
Hi all,
I just got my hands on a E6600 processor and so far I got it running stable at 3.4 Ghz on my 680i board (P28 BIOS). I am using Corsair XMS PC-6400 at 5-5-5-12 to do this overclock.
Vcore is at 1.5v
Memory is at stock 800 Mhz with a 2.0v (increased from 1.9v)
CPU FSB is at 1.3v...
If its asking you for a password when going into BIOS, try resetting CMOS by pulling the watch battery out of the motherboard for 5 seconds then putting it back in. That might clear that password. :D
I found a online power supply calculator, not the best resource ever but it is something.
http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp
According to this my normal usage is 551W (go figure  ) and with the overclock its 628W. Like i said its not the "best" source, but it would...
Turns out my overclock was drawing an additional ~80watts from my PSU. So when i had everything plugged in it was not providing enough power.
So, I'm in the market for a new PSU, 650W >
Well.....
System booted will all my devices installed/attached, and turning auto vcore off and setting it correctly seems to have worked great. :D
Maybe after i finish some homework I will attempt to re-overclock it
Thank you all for your replies.
Booting with bare minimums i can 3dmark06 and play Burning Crusade for a couple hours (did that to test last night).
So I'm fairly sure that i just destroyed this PSU by stressing it with all my devices.
Minimum Config such as fail-safe bios options? Or minimum config such as 1 HDD, vid card, cd-rom?
I have not tried fail safe bios yet.
And I am typing right now with only one of my HDD's plugged in and no USB devices.
System specs are in sig.
All my problems started happening around last week, when i was getting random blue screens and restarts. I checked the memory (memtested each stick then both sticks in dual channel) and un-overclocked the processor (optimized bios defaults). Then i started to notice...
Thats what i was thinking.....
I was looking at an OCZ GamerXstream 850W

Any feedback or suggestions? (Trying to stay ~200 for the PSU)
I have an odd problem,
My computer no longer boots (at stock) settings, unless I unplug all my cathodes and my fans. And if i plug a USB device into the motherboard when the computer is on, it restarts itself.
I have an Antec NeoHE 550W PSU, with an 8800GTX video card. The +12V PCI-E's i...
As I stated earlier in this thread.
Motherboard gets an F-
But I did build a nice OC'd machine out of the processor and a copy of vista is cool. But if you are planning on buying this based on the motherboard, you would be better off taking the $220 and buy a E6400. :D
Well i finally got the RAM to over volt, right now it is at 2.0v and so far so good. RAM speed in BIOS is 858 Mhz so it looks like only a 58Mhz overclock from stock, unless I am reading that wrong. But so far it is running ok, no re-boots. :D
I lol'd
Anyway, re-attaching your heatsink is not hard, you just have to make sure to clean it (like other people have said above me) then spread a thin layer of thermal paste either on the heatsink or CPU (alot easier to spread on the intel heatsink since it does not cover the entire...
Flashing the BIOS might not be a bad idea. Sine the last time i flashed it using the updater tool that came with the mobo. Maybe I should do it the old fashion way
Ok I am a little confused here.
I recently got a C2D E6300 and a gigabyte ds3 (F7 bios) then overclocked the E6300 to 3.0 Ghz. The system is stable and I can game on it for 5+ hours without problems.
That changed last week.
Now my computer is rebooting randomly with a BSOD then...

Pretty hard to ID from picture but it actually looks like a 4-pin firewire of some sort not USB.
I don't know what else would even remotely look like that.
EDIT: picture
