what about the Accelero Twin Turbo?
is it my mistake or are there tons of coolers for almost any gfx card except the 8800GTX/Ultra?!
stupid question no doubt but is the Accelero9800 compatible?
ok, just to be clear: i have no intention of replacing my good ol' 8800gtx.
i'm perfectly happy with it.
i just want a better cooler so it's quieter, and i may even oc it a little.
that's all.
only just starting to feel the upgrade urge tbh, which means it'll be a least another 6 months before i do.
i'd rather just by a cooler and overclock for now.
this is really started to bug me.
there doesn't seam to be any after market coolers for the 8800gtx!
there's loads of coolers for the 8000 series, but they all state very clearly every 8000 series except the gtx!
the zalman vf1000 seams an options but the heatsink pack required for the gtx are...
causes static interferance in my p5b's headphone output, which is annouying. plus something in my 8800gtx is making even louder wierd nouses. went back tp previous 256's - problem solved. did see a few more fps's though. gotta love nvidia's drivers
gotta say, it surprises me how much attention eyefinity gets, and how little 3Dvision receives
I've seen em both in action and it's just no contest, 3Dv blows eyefinity away when it comes to immersion, which kyle often states as the key thing eyefinity brings to games
When i play a game using...
I just don't get this whole ifinity malarky. I'd much rather add together the small fortune I would have spent on 3 LCDs and buy one big one.
Besides that, how long is it going to be viable? Sure it can run current games well but give it a year and they'll be games out that will tax the pants...
The subject says it all.
I did have a dual boot Win 7 RTM x64 and Win XP setup.
Replaced Win7 with Vista.
Tried to use EasyBCD to set up my dual boot again and I'm not getting anywhere.
I've read through various guides (like this one for example) and none of them work.
Anyone know where I'm...
Subject says it all.
What would you do if, like me, you've just hammered the second to last nail in to your trusty ol' 8800GTX's coffin by pushing it just that little bit to far? (god damned virtical lines).
If anyone knows how to resurrect my 8800 I'll love you long time.
That's nothing mate. I've got bloody virtical lines running up and down my screen... D'OH!!!!!
My poor ol' 8800GTX has finally given up the ghost after 2 years of what was clearly to much of an overclock. Just got Batman AA and Red Faction to rub salt in the wounds. D'OH, D'OH...
Looking at the C2D dB it's clearly the stock intel HS at fault - it's shite isn't it.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
I know asking for other peoples settings is a bit half arsed, I just wanted examples, like the C2D dB provides.
Cheers all.
This is weird as hell.
I'm obviously not setting up something correctly and I'm assuming it's causing a nasty bottleneck somewhere.
First, here's my CPU, and here's my BIOS, and a little back story:
I've always O/C'd my CPU to 2.7 and it's always run stable enough. Bought GTA IV the other day...
Exactly. Win 7 is like a placebo imo.
Don't get me wrong, MS have put so much work in to the UI and that's exactly what Windows has always needed imo.
I've run both Vista and Win7 (x64) and found the performance, including the memory footprint to be exactly the same - but then my PC's a bit of...
I know this isn't strictly HTPC related but was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a good PVR DVD or BluRay player.
It's for my folks so they're not looking to go crazy.
Just wanna record TV and watch some DVDs.
One with dual tuners would be nice. Humax keep making an appearance...
Hello,
Hopefully someone will know the answer to this because I'm a little confused.
I was looking at the Auzen X-Fi HomeTheater HD as I'm a bit of an audio nut and need something cleared up.
HDMI supports Dolby True HD and DTS-HD, and DTS-HD MA.
None of these would works over spdif...
well, i dunno, but i've heard audio through some serious setups (one dude was a audio professor who built his own speakers from custom parts for example) and i think the Z5500's sound gorgeous.
Couple it with a good soundcard like the Audigy 2/4/X-Fi/Auzentech and you're in for a treat.
CMSS2...
I still love this game to bits.
I think I may have over played it when it was first released.
But i haven't had the time for gaming over the last few weeks, jumped back in last night for a dose of versus and had an obsolute blast.
Now that people are starting to really get the game you can find...
Hate to say it but this didn't work for me either...
Kit: Netgear WGR614 v7 + D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 PCI card.
D'oh!
There was speak that SP2 for Vista contains many improvements for wireless networking. Finger's crossed.
Don't know what all the fuss is about now i've used it.
Performance is every bit as good as Vista x64. Every the memory foot print's the same as my Vx64 install (typically 800Mbs). It's just got more knobs on.
One thing I really didn't like it the new WMP12 - that's going to confuse people...
I also wont be picking this one up unless it's patched to the hind legs.
I think it's absolutely ridiculous that in order to play this game at decent frames and at decent settings (I'm not talking maxed out) you need PC hardware considerably more powerful than the 360?!
WTF's going on there...
This whole DRM thing is getting a bit ridic imo. Software devs have a right to protect there products. Admitedly EA may have a little to far. But i think this is a reaction more to the idea than the reality of it.
Gotta say I completely disagree with you both points.
Bioshock is clearly considerable less jaggy, and as the dude above said 2xAA in FC2 just takes the edge of things. There was a time when I couldn't play without AA but now it just doesn't stand out so much. It's as if the aliasing lines...
My rig:
8800GTX @ 612/945
Q6600 @ 2.8
24" dell monitor
Everything set to ultra high but with no AA (because I'll be damned I just don't notice any more) = runs like a dream at 1920*1200 and looks stunning.
P.S: I'd love to know exactly what it was that nVidia did to their drivers to make AA...
Now that's cool.
It obviously needs search capabilities but I suspect these functions aren't there simply because this is a demo of the new UI. Once it's properly integrated in to Amazon it will be awesome.
In defence of an audio nut I know - his setup does sound un-believable, and it proves that analogue sound doesn't just sound a bit better than digital, they're worlds apart.
Impossible to explain, you have to hear it to believe it really, plus you have to be listening to vinyl. CD's just wont...
No. 4 & 5 are true, but I wouldn't call Vista a failure.
The funniest thing about all of this is that it's just a little bit of history repeating - some quotes from various sources on XP:
"Indeed, XP inherits many of Windows' prior sins--from browser integration to security vulnerabilities--and...
Expect it would be noisy as well. I love my P180 simply because of all the dampening it has.
But, does look awesome, and with a water cooling solution would probably rock.
Deffo check out FFDShow - superb stuff - seriously!
Someone mentioned the CCCP codec pack earlier but imo it's convoluted. You can do some really nice stuff with FFDShow, it's very slick - never have to worry about codecs again.
The only thing FFDShow can't decode is MKV files, for that use...
