Asus P5K + Sata Port -> Front Panel Esata connection = Sloww!

I tired this on 2 different case types.. One being a Thermaltake Armour (the one with the massive 250m side fan) and a Antec Sonata3 case. Both the connection from the front eSata case cable and the optional expansion bracket that fits on the back which then also connects to the eSata on the...

Based on these requirements: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1209454 Anyone recommend a good NAS which I use as an dyndns' FTP server?

Asus P5K + Sata Port -> Front Panel Esata connection = Sloww!

Surely I cannot be the only one with this problem? This eSata issue has appeared on 3 different Asus mobos. Is this an industry trend with internal eSata connectors on the board?

Inquiry: A good network storage solution?

I've been running an FTP server for some years but its time to simplify it down to a single small NAS-driven HDD enclosed system. I've been looking at this replacement: Buffalo LinkStation Pro Shared Network Storage LS-320GL - NAS - 320 GB - Serial ATA-150 - HD 320 GB x 1 - Gigabit Ethernet...

Asus P5K + Sata Port -> Front Panel Esata connection = Sloww!

Noone has any ideas on this? Seems Asus wide or is this just a fact of eSata connectors on the front of Case Panels?

Asus P5K + Sata Port -> Front Panel Esata connection = Sloww!

Both my current P5W DH and the P5K (system I am building for a friend) has this problem. Both Mobos work perfectly with the eSata on the back panel (once the JController is enabled in Bios for obvious reasons). But.. plug them either into the regular sata ports on the mobo or to the esata port...

Asus P5K + Sata Port -> Front Panel Esata connection = Sloww!

I have used a few Asus boards recently (ie.Asus P5W DH, P5K) all flashed to the latest bios but the problem I am having is this: Why when I plug the external esata connection installed onto the case's esata port to the motherboard's regular sata port OR e-sata port that the speeds on the...

Overclocked but ready for a little more..

Okie.. ongoing with my tests I have some questions to consider: 1) For Ram - should I have tighter timings (ie. 4-5-4-12) and keep Vdimm @ 2.20V or run by SPD and then increase DRAM Frequency much higher than where I am to 800+ then increase Vdimm higher than 2.20V 2) For this kind of ram...

Update - Ram PRIME95 for 12+ hours under same above specs.. No problems.. CPU Load Maxed @ 46c... Anyone else think Orthos is screwy? I do. ;)

Overclocked but ready for a little more..

I'll try manually setting ram to those loose settings. That also makes sense that setting it to AUTO might cause wonky settings in the background. As for reducing the XP paging size down to 100mb or even off. I've heard that years and years ago. Makes sense since physical memory is now...

Overclocked but ready for a little more..

Yeaa I figured as much: I'm getting to the point that Orthos-Beta is a "anally-retentive" torturer. ;) I tried some intensive computation apps I had a friend write for me a month back and it works flawlessly (almost 5x faster than on my old P4 3.0Ghz). Hell.. thinking of putting my DRAM...

Overclocked but ready for a little more..

I'll increase Ram to 2.30V However, don't I want to keep Ram @ SPD so I can first troubleshoot the CPU first? No sense in doing both at the same time, no? Not sure how I could be "at the cpu wall" when the CPU temps at load are far below what others are getting with serious OC'ing by air...

    120mm Fans with RPM Sensors?

Panaflo M1A, L1A & U1As are perhaps the best case fans out there yet no RPM sensors :( I have one 120mm in the front and one 120mm in the rear hooked to a Hardcano 12 drive-bay sensor. Just a shame they never thought of sensors. Very high CFM and very low decibel fans they are!

Overclocked but ready for a little more..

Just an FYI.. With the above settings, I'm seeing errors in the 16M and 32M tests for the SuperPI tests as well as the Go-Orthos-Beta. I gather this is normal for my settings as I need to tweak them. Any thoughts everyone? Thanks!

Overclocked but ready for a little more..

I posted my purchasing specs here just under a month back so here I am: super happy but just needing some advice from the Bios and Hardware Masters here on Hardocp. Firstly.. here are my specs on where we are now: CPU Used: Conroe E6700 Retail B2 Motherboard: Asus P5W DH (1301 Bios) My...

The Conroe Overclock Database. (Please read 1st post for posting instructions.)

ANyone else severely disappointed in the E6700 OC scaling? 3.4Ghz only? WHAT THE HELL?!?! Then again, the E6700 is shipping REAL SOON and I reserved mine - should be in Toronto, Canada by the beginning of Aug 21.. Yippee!! That and the E6800 are the only Conroes not widely available. In the...

    E6600 w/ OC better than E6700 w/ OC?

Yes I want concrete evidence the E6700 can OC better than the E6600. I've seen on some websites the E6700 can overlock just as well as the E6600 but why people are not experiencing that here? Ugh!!!

Needing a quick recommendation on the following high-ender..

Update - Adding this: OCZ GameXStream Power Supply (SLI Ready) 700W (OCZ700GXSSLI) based on recommendations for being a VERY superior PSU and for being 700W. Also cheaper too. :) So far.. all looking good for the above... I take it the silence from the masses means a definite "affirmative"...

Needing a quick recommendation on the following high-ender..

That depends.. I'm seeing much better overclocking with the E6400 then the E6700. The E6400 is going to near 4ghz while the E6700 is only @ 3.6Gghz. Ugh! All on stock cooling. Well.. I'm thinking about it... I need to wait a month or two to make a final decision..

Needing a quick recommendation on the following high-ender..

Just a quick FYI.. I do not plan to run the 7950GX2s in SLI (wouldn't work anyway as almost all games wouldn't take advantage).. Also.. have a question.. 4) Is 500W PSU enought for the above components? I would think so as my current beast: P4 2.8 @ 3.1, 1gb Dual-Channel PC3500 RAM...

Thanks.. I will... Just a little distressing in this early juncture considering the E6700 is a faster Conroe so it should scale better than 3.6Ghz on Air Cooled.

The Conroe Overclock Database. (Please read 1st post for posting instructions.)

Hmmm.. explain to me this: How can the E6700 be overclocking so badly compared to the E6600? Thats absurd! The E6600 is almost reaching 4ghz while the E6700 is max'ing at 3.6? Whats going on here? I'm strongly thinking of pruchasing the E6700 and to overclock it with a TuniqTower in a very...
