I just got my 37" from Sam's Club. My concerns about it shipping via UPS vs a freight service were quelled when it arrived -- the box was in pretty good condition.
One of the first things I did after hooking it up was check for dead/stuck pixels, and I found five. Fortunately, I was able to...
I have one coming this week, and will probably need a new desk to accommodate it.
To those who are using this monitor with a jerker: Do you feel that you're sitting far enough back? No eye strain?
Owners of 40"/46" V2500 and XBR2 are all reporting the same clouding issue. People are also apparently seeing the same problem in the Samsungs too, which use the same panels.
I agree that the lighter weight and smaller width of the V2500 is an advantage over the XBR2.
As for the Wii, I...

I was recently making a similar choice, and after both researching avsforum and looking at the various models in the store, I went with a V2500... until I found the XBR2 on sale for a price similar to what I paid for the V2500, so I swapped.
I originally got the V2500 because it seemed like...
PC Probe has always read at around 33 idle and 48 load.
The difference between the cores in Core Temp has never been more than 2 degrees that I've seen when using Orthos, and it's usually 0 or 1.
I'm getting inconsistencies in temp readings for a single core at different times in Core...
I've been using Core Temp to monitor my E6700 (at stock) and have noticed a large inconsistency in the temps it reports at different times. The temps it has reported at idle and load have varied by as much 15 degrees. (The lowest I've seen from core 0 has been 41 idle / 50 load, and the...
Nothing has yet been able to topple the MX518 from its spot with my gaming rig. If I had a complaint about it, it would just be that it doesn't have a built in sensitivity indicator like some other mice, such as the G5 and G7.
I've owned the G5 and didn't like it for a number of reasons.
The same thing happens to my speakers, headphones, and an old CRT TV, so I just try to avoid having my cellphone near them. Keeping the cellphone at least 3-4 feet away seems to prevent the problem for me.
Asus should just send you a new chipset fan if you call their RMA department and explain the problem. You might be better off getting a third party heatsink/fan, though.
I own both the ATH-A900s and DT770s (80 ohm). While I'd more likely recommend the DT770s to someone who was specifically interested in bass, I don't think you'd be at all disappointed with the bass of the ATH-A900s (or the ATH-A700s, assuming that they're similar in that area).
For gaming...
The Audio-Technica ATH-A900 and Sennheiser 595 (50 ohm) are good alternatives to the DT770s for gaming, and are easier to drive without an amp. Having tried all three, I prefer my amped 80ohm DT770s, though.
I have an X-Fi Fatal1ty with my A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo and oddly never had this problem. I don't know if I just got lucky or if it's the result of my configuration. In case it's something with the configuration, I'm using the 1017.004 mobo bios and 2.09.0001 x-fi driver. I also have everything I...
Given that you intend to use the headphones at night and on a plane, you probably want to avoid open ones like the hd555/595. DT770 and ATH-A500/A900 are all good choices for closed, sound isolating gaming headphones, but you might have more fun with the DT770 for music playback.
I also confirmed with the salesperson (actually, two of them) that I could exchange the monitor if there were any dead pixels. Luckily, I had none.
I paid the higher price for my monitor, though. I need to go back to CC and see if they'll give me a refund for the price difference under the...
I initially used my DT770/80s without an amp, and even though the positional audio was there, I felt I had to struggle with some of the "distant" sounds. Using an amp (first a PA2V2 and then a MisterX pimeta) solved this problem.
I just picked up this monitor at Circuit City. (Unfortunately, I was too late for the $339.99 price, but still got $40 off.) This picture is nice and sharp. There's very minimal backlight bleeding and very little to no ghosting in games.
My concern, though, is the color. A lot of people...
