yeah the BIOS on both boards was the latest version. The new one is MSI Gaming Edge (z490 w/ new processor as well). I took the card out for a day, getting ready to RMA it back.. decided to put it back in the computer for 1 more test before I sent it of....and now its been working fine for 2...
I spoke too soon. My new motherboard worked with the 3090 FE for a few hours. Then I turned my computer off for the night. when I woke up, it would not boot - this new motherboard (msi) gives an error of "VGA - indicates GPU is not detected or fail." - if I put my 2080ti in, it boots just...
not exactly sure what you mean - the card is mounted normally - but I did lay my case on its side, just to make sure the heaviness of the card wasn't causing an issue - no difference. I'm not using a gpu stand or anything like that.
I'm using 2 cables from the powersupply (seasonic prime tx-850) to the nvidia adapter. I tried swapping those cables out as well, just to be sure. I'm thinking of heading to Microcenter ot pick up a different PSU, just to double check to see if that is the problem. If I leave the computer off...
This one has me stumped. Installed my new card today, fired up Apex Legends and played it for about an hour or so - all of a sudden the game hard locks / graphics frozen / audio stops, can't do anything. I look at my motherboard LED error code and it has "b2" - I reboot....and it won't POST -...
I picked one of these up - refurb'd from the Dell Outlet for ~$330 - and man am I happy. I'm coming from a BenQ XL2420T - this monitor looks so much better, I can hardly believe it.
i broke the link on purpose, it seems if you click that link, it will attempt to buy it for a 'Michael Yu' from his wishlist...instead of yourself. FYI.
So I did some overclocking - with my card that has the 74.2 ASIC score, I can OC the core +200 using MSI Afterburner. Anything higher than around 220, I start to see artifacts and driver crashes.
i'm new to overclocking. I have the LITE edition of this card with a 74.2% ASIC score. I messed around with Afterburner last night and got the overclock +200 with no issues. I see that some people here are overclocking +500 (core clock) without issues.
I'm wondering, how much does memory...
well I think some of them in the lower $500 range did get the cut...they are more expensive because they are faster clocked than stock (dumb, but thats what they do)
that videocardz source updated their rumor and said it the launch would be "delayed" by a week...with the cards officially at retail October 31st I think
well the twitter question just says the R9 series....doesn't say anything about the 290x. Since the 280x's are available and shipping, the launch of R9 hasn't been delayed
so it's still quite possible the 290x launch will be delayed
yeah, thanks for all of the advice..i'm happy with my cpu + ram (there is no need for 16gb unless you are doing video editing / lots of photoshop work) - really was just looking at the video card. I would love to upgrade to the 780, have a hard time stomaching the price of it though.
cool, thanks for the suggestions. Wasn' aware that AMD was releasing something in the next month or so. I'm really only looking to upgrade the video card - so I will hold off!
Currently have an Intel i5-3570k cpu, 8gb ram + nvidia 580 gtx + 1920x1080 120hz benq monitor. For me, it seems like I get ok FPS for most games, so am not feeling extreme need....but part of me thinks I should upgrade to the 7xx series...or perhaps maybe it would be better off just to wait for...
thanks for the review, I purchased one from NewEgg based on it! (since I skipped last generation, I figured It was time for an upgrade....I've been an ATI guy the last few generations, so it will be interesting going back to nVidia)
When I try to launch the LP DX10 demo, it says "This application has failed to start becuase d3dx10_33.dll was not found."
what gives - does vista automatically have dx10 installed, or do i need to download it from someplace?
no, it shouldn't require more RAM. DX10 is a bit of a marketing gimmick. It doesn't really add any new features to DX, it just optimizes existing ones, so you may be able to get more polys on screen, etc.
so I'm building my new system
I have the asus m2n32-sli deluxe wireless edition motherboard
am2 4200
2 x 1gb corsair ddr2 800 ram (cas 4)
pny geforce 7900gt
building new system. when i boot up for the first time i get 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps. did some googling, which...
I will probably pick up an AM2 5000+ processor, but for all we know, they may not be available until conroe ships. newegg had a few in stock last week, but they were going for $819 and were out of stock within a few hours. Now that the price is droping to $300, I can't see them selling any slower.
newegg had the am2 5000+ in stock last week...they were selling it for $799 the first day I saw it in stock...then the next day it went up to $809...then later in the day went up to $819. I would feel pretty stupid paying that much for a processor that will cost around $300 next week...
wow that is nuts...for some reason i thought there was a 512k version and 1mb version...they are selling the 512k version for $819 WTF WTF WTF WTF
I guess because the 5000+ isn't out everywhere yet? I see the ETA for it at MonarchPC is July 14th.
