I case anyone else runs in to this, it turns out my CPU went bad. AMD gave me a label and I had a new one less than 2 weeks later. Not sure how or why it went bad.
I built this computer back in January and it's been working great. Then a few weeks ago I put my computer in sleep and went to bed. Next day I come back to it and it won't wake. No display, no post. It just restarts every 30 seconds. I unplugged everything, tried different GPUs, moved the RAM...
I finally have all my parts for my new build, except the power supply. I have a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM, and an XFX RX 5700 DD Ultra. It's been almost 10 years since my last build (Phenom II 1055T) and I am totally out of the loop on power supplies. I would reuse my current power supply, and XFX...
I'm looking for cases that let you mount the motherboard horizontally. Either mATX or ATX. So far I've only found the ThermalTake V 21 that has this. Any others?
I'm looking for motherboards for the Ryzen 3600 $100 or less, and there doesn't seem to be too many mATX boards available that look great. The best one I've seen so far seems to be the ASRock B450M Pro4 AM4 mATX. Is that any good in terms of the VRMs and such? I'm not too entirely sure what to...
Oh, I'm the same way. When I was moving from the left lane to the turn lane my eyes were glued to the mirror as the always are. It's common for people to cross that gore in the turn lane coming out of the gas station too. He was behind me and stayed behind me all the way until that last second...
Seriously? He signaled, there was plenty of room, and he didn't impede your travel. Calm the hell down. It's people like you that cause problems on the road.
They aren't really dual speakers, but other than that it is a great phone. Huge upgrade for me coming from a 2013 Moto G without LTE. I've been using mine for over a week now. If I had to complain about anything about it, it would be the loose/cheap power and volume buttons.
Thank you everyone for all the help. It still makes me wonder what could have failed on the card, but I'm glad I now know the cause of the system instability. I guess it isn't too bad considering it probably had about 17,000 hours on it (number taken from smart data of hard drive installed at...
I guess that makes sense...If I could get a EVGA 960 for $135 right now (from Jet.com with Amex offer and disocunt code), should I jump on that? Or alternatively a EVGA 950 for $113? Both are 2GB models.
Can the 950 do everything my 470 could do and more?
Is Polaris the next gen coming out soon? What would that mean for me? Getting a next gen budget card or waiting so it pushes down the price of budget cards out now? I can certainly wait a couple weeks if needed.
I'm also not a big of AMD video cards. Twice in the past I've gotten them and had...
That seems promising. It seems to be similar in price to the 750 Ti. Would the 950 still be better than that?
I can barely find any 770s for sale for some reason, and what I do find are closer to $200.
My GPU recently stopped working (RIP GTX 470) without displaying any kind of artifacts, just each time the driver installs, it won't output anything and reboots the computer. That can be read here if anyone has anymore input: I Need Help - System Issues
Anyway, I know the hardware is a little...
Well here are my findings:
I confirmed it once more. When the graphics driver attempts to install, the monitor loses the signal and the PC reboots. I pulled the card and ran OCCT Linpack for one hour and had no issues.
Also, the only spare GPU I have is a GT 430, so not nearly the same as far...
I couldn't even get far enough to fully install the driver when it happened. It would get maybe 25% in to installation and restart. Or maybe it had installed enough components to trigger the restart.
All caps looked fine, but they are all solid on this motherbard, so I don't know what else to...
Sorry about that, the under volt went away a year ago when I installed Windows 10, I couldn't remember how I even did it all those years ago. Wouldn't the GPU show artifacts if it was failing?
I hope it's not the the motherboard. Back when this was new, I had to RMA my first mobo and they were...
Hi, I have a computer issue that I can't figure out. Please help!
Here is what happened:
Yesterday I turned on my computer and everything was normal for about 30 minutes. I was watching a YouTube video when it suddenly froze. The audio continued but the image was frozen, and the computer...
I haven't heard the latest on how this is supposed to work.
The news was that you could get a free copy of 10 (I have a few computers still on Vista that I would like to upgrade) as long as you installed the tech preview before the release date? Is this still true?
Yeah, this is just delayed sending. I've had it enabled in Labs for years, used it a few times too.
Anyone remember the AOL client email would actually unsend an email to another AOL user as long as the recipient hasn't read it yet? I always thought that was pretty neat.
My dad still uses his Touchpad daily, but he has been complaining lately that a lot of stuff doesn't load correctly or isn't compatible with WebOS anymore. So I've been thinking about putting Android on it. I did it once before on another TP, but this was back when it was still Gingerbread or...
I chose not to renew mine. I first got it in 2011 for a free year and have paid $50 a year until now. I used it quite a bit this year, but mostly through third party sellers with Amazon fulfillment so I don't get charged tax. I recently got a free movie package on my cable, so the streaming is...
Forgot to update this. I figured it couldn't hurt to try and it was probably good to replace the thermal paste anyway. I swapped the processor and power it on, and sure enough the thing beeps and flashes a red light 9 times. Swapped the old one back in and all is well again. Thanks for all the...
Thanks for all the help so far. I know very little about Intel CPUs, I've always purchased AMDs, and even then I go many years before upgrading.
I notice all of those you listed have a 1066 FSB, and the 6750 has a 1333 FSB listed. I assume it can't hurt anything if I put the CPU in and it...
Okay, thanks for the help. I agree it isn't worth it for such similar performance. The PCI-E slot is occupied by the HD3400 already. I also have an HD5450 lying around too, but it has a full size pci slot bracket. The half height bracket on the 3400 won't work on the 5450 either.
Rather than...
No gaming or anything like that. My dad is using it just for web browsing and Netflix usage.
Unfortunately I don't think the Radeon HD3400 is well suited for HD content, and the 32 bit Windows 7 limiting the RAM isn't helping either, but that's a question for a different subforum, lol.
Hi, I was given a used Dell Optiplex 380 business computer (had viruses and couldn't be bothered to remove them) recently. It has a Pentium E5400 in it. I also have a C2D E6750 lying around in a computer with a bad motherboard. Would it be worth my time to swap the C2D in? They have roughly the...
I swapped out the PSU with a known good one. I noticed when I removed the PSU it is incredibly light. It almost feels like an empty box. Out of curiosity I popped it open and the two largest caps looks, fine. There is one small that is bulging. I also just removed the processor heatsink to get a...
I noticed a computer next to the trash a couple weeks ago and brought it home. It is this model:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227035
It restarted at random times, usually seconds after turning it on. I put it to the side and got back to it today, and now it doesn't...
The 4800s are pricey, but the 3800 to 4400 are around $10-$15. Thanks for the info in the possible compatibility issue. I have another computer with a 430 GT I can use to test the motherboard before I purchase anything.
