    NVIDIA EDID Issue

Wow! It worked! Thank's a lot man. I would have had absolutely no chance of fixing it without your help....and a nice easy-to-use program to boot too. Fantastic. Just in case anyone else with a similar problem digs up this thread later: 1. I had numerous "monitors" listed in Toasty's...

    NVIDIA EDID Issue

Hi Guys, I have a no-brand 36" TV acting as my primary monitor. Its native resolution is 1920x1080. I have previously used it in conjunction with my old HD4870 for about 6 months with no issue (as long as I connected it via a DVI cable not HDMI). I have since bought a GTX670, and no...

Help. Front USB3.0 ports not working.

Okay, now this is strange: 1. Disabled Windows Update entirely 2. Went into Device Manager 3. Uninstalled (w/ Delete) the two Etron USB3 drivers 4. Downloaded USB3 driver from Gigabyte 5. Installed it (or at least ran the installer) 6. Comes up with a window saying "searching windows...

Help. Front USB3.0 ports not working.

Hi guys, I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 mobo (F10 BIOS) , in a Corsair 500R case. Rest of the specs are: i5 2500k 2x HD4870s in Crossfire 8gb of GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 Corsair H80 Antec HCP1200W PSU 120gb OCZ Vertex 3 MaxIOPS a few storage HDDs ...however I doubt any of the rest is...

Switching from pfsense...need ip-specific bandwidth control: suggestions?

hmm, Im not really sure how the first one works (i.e. how its deployed within the network), but isnt it windows based? and the 2nd one seems to run off Netflow information (like Netflow analyzer) which i dont have.

Switching from pfsense...need ip-specific bandwidth control: suggestions?

hmm ive got it all installed now (CC4.1 that is) but im not sure what program you were referring to? That thread lists quite a flow (netflow and ntop in particular). Most of them don't look like they do what i want, NetFlow Analyzer seems to require Cisco stuff to work, and Ntop (which i...

Switching from pfsense...need ip-specific bandwidth control: suggestions?

hehe...source code isnt going to do me much good, pfsense was my very first foray away from Windows ;). But the rest is interesting....this free version, what features do you miss out on? anything that i'll really miss? also...does Endian have the features im looking for?

Switching from pfsense...need ip-specific bandwidth control: suggestions?

Hi guys, im currently using pfsense and in most aspects, i love it. Its free, you get good support from the forums, it does almost everything i want it to....except one fairly major thing: Bandwidth monitoring and control. While there are a few programs that allow interface-based...

    Linking Wireless Routers?

Hmmm, just another question. If i used fibre to link the buildings instead of Cat5...is it easy to convert fibre back into a Cat5 network at either end? or am i going to have to buy specialist fibre equipment? (never really used fibre before and have only seen fibre network cards that were...

    Linking Wireless Routers?

Ah okay...well doesnt matter about the Aus system, because i think its the US system that is used in Japan. Therefore it will probably be wired the same way as you said...therefore making it an issue again. Someone suggested digging the trench deeper, saying that all Telephone cables are at...

    Linking Wireless Routers?

Hmm, just reading that link, and got to this part: ...does this mean its only an issue with devices connected with a grounding pin? Pretty much all such devices here in Aus use that third pin as a ground, but a router i bought in the US was missing the ground pin, and i believe uses the...

    Linking Wireless Routers?

Yeah i was going to run it inside the PVC just to save it from physical damage. I doubt it would last too long if buried exposed. Surely the water, ice, snow, water, mud, dirt, water cycle would kill it pretty quickly otherwise. Not to mention some bright-spark with an errant shovel just...

    Linking Wireless Routers?

hmm okay, thanks for that wikipedia link btw...the rundown on the manufacturers that support WDS seems very helpful. What do you mean about the ground loops? and hooking the ground to one side? thanks,

    Linking Wireless Routers?

Hi guys, the site in question is 5 separate brick and concrete buildings, all within about 20m of each other. (self-contained duplex apartments). Now the main building (which is effectively a basement) is getting an optic fibre connection put on, which i hope to be able to split to provide...

    ATI x850XT vs. 8600GT

VRZone had their Inno3D over 900mhz, and a Palit over 1ghz...both on air. (1020/955 actually) My leadtek maxes out (not stable), without volt mods, at 737/919. im hoping to be able to get it at least to this after a few pencil strokes (if only i could find someone who has voltmodded a card with...

    Need help volt-modding a Leadtek 8600GT...

Hi guys, ive got a Leadtek 8600GT that im trying to volt-mod, but unfortunately (as this is my first attempt at such a mod) im not sure what to do as i can find no guides specific to this card's PCB. I have seen the VRzone review of the Inno3D and the Palit, and i believe the eVGA and the...

Insane Graphic Artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R...any ideas?

Its not a new install (3 months now) but im almost postive that i installed in that order because i ALWAYS install the mobo drivers first, then videocard...in that order.

Insane Graphic Artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R...any ideas?

Yeah it keeps coming back to heat for me too...but its probably the one area that this particular card should NOT be affected. I mean, its a cool-running card anyway and barely needed the stock fan at default clock. But to that ive added a VF700-CU with ramsinks, as well as underclocking the...

Insane Graphic Artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R...any ideas?

Okay, then back to the artifacting, if an X300 is doing it too, where does that leave us? I see it as eliminating the AGP slot as having some issue (or its implimentation on the board), and also the 9600Pro (as in the card itself)...UNLESS of course there is something defective in the x300 as...

Insane Graphic Artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R...any ideas?

Yeah ive seen a few screenshots around the place that look simply incredible. Would a 7600GT cut it? as the only other card in my price range atm is the 7900GS, and im not sure that its all that much better...or perhaps an 8600?

Insane Graphic Artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R...any ideas?

Yeah it does resemble heat issues ive had in the past, and as you say it could certainly be in need of some thermal paste. HOWEVER....for the few seconds the X300 was actually running it on min settings ....it was covered in the same artifacts. I have got a 7600GT in my HTPC that i...

Insane Graphic Artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R...any ideas?

Yeah well it only allows me to use Static Light rendering, and some of the advanced options like "grass shadow" and "sun shadow" are greyed out (so i assume are off). I know the card is old, but youd actually be surprised how well it handles the game (artifacts aside). Last night i was...

Hi guys, I just installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl after a couple of years of waiting, but to my dismay there is a HUGE problem with graphics artifacts, see the below screenshot. As you can see, the problem makes the game almost unplayable. Now i had a similar problem with...

Easiest and Best way to backup a small server?

ah okay. It does seem to be the most cost-effective way of doing it. Not to mention itd have to be a hell of a lot quicker backing up to a SATA drive than to a Tape drive. Has anyone used SyncBack? I saw that listed somewhere as being a pretty good free automated program...and i notice that...

Easiest and Best way to backup a small server?

Hi guys, we have a server at work that is currently running 4 drivers in a RAID 0+1 config, and we need to start thinking about a more consistent backup solution. Currently we just have an external HDD that someone is SUPPOSED to copy all the data too in the afternoon and take home with them...

Will this effect bandwidth too much?

no good? I read a few pretty glowing user-reviews of it from Newegg (mind you im in Aus. so range is more limited). One in particular seemed to be from a guy who knew what he was talking about, and mentioned some testing he'd done with it. Would you recommend something different?

I was thinking of getting one of the metal-cased Netgear ones like the GS108...but in a 4port.

Will this effect bandwidth too much?

yeah sorry, by "run another line" i meant running a solid-core run of cable thru the walls (difficult) as opposed to running an additional patch lead from the switch. to the 2nd computer (easy) But yeah, you answered the question anyway. HDD's wont keep up with the GB speed of the NIC's, so...

Will this effect bandwidth too much?

Hi guy, im just thinking about adding another computer to a room that only has 1 Cat5 line running to it. Atm its just a simple matter of 1 computer connected to that line, connecting to a Gigabit switch at the other end. But i want to add a 2nd computer to that room without running a second...

DVT1000T causes Vista to freeze on startup

Okay i have an update: After talking to someone from over at the XP Media Centre forums, it turns out we had a similar problem. Both had DTV1000T's (Revision A) and 7xxxx series videocards (mine a 7600GT, his a 7900GT). Both had the exact same error. It turns out that when adding...

DVT1000T causes Vista to freeze on startup

Yep tried it in all slots to no avail. Tried switching motherboards to an ASRock 775dualVsta or whatever the code is, and both work fine in that. However both also work fine in the MSI board under XP so it cant actually be the board thats faulty can it?
