I don't know if anyone has posted this, but didn't see it. Amazon runs an open box department called Warehouse Deals. They have a pretty good selection of open box nvidia cards. Many times the "like new" cards are just dinged boxes and the product is new.
I was able to get a galaxy 680gtx...
Anyone run into an issue where the motherboard keeps turning back on after putting windows 7 into sleep mode ? I can't figure it out. I dug through bios and didn't see any weird power settings.
I ordered the 3570k and P8Z77 pro for $397 shipped overnight w/ tax. I don't think I've ever seen microcenter actually have shipping on their deals before ! I live 2 hours south of the Chicago store, so quite happy to see that.
With the $50 mobo savings I couldn't justify going i7. The...
This can be ordered online ! I got next day shipping for $15 !!!!!
I opted not to update the slickdeals thread :)
Got the 3570k and the Asus P8Z77 pro for $397 shipped (tax in my state) overnight.
If you already have a motherboard that isn't a Z77 chipset I would probably save the money if you have a MC around and get the SB. I think most of the advantages to IB come with a Z77 chipset w/ native support for USB 3.0, PCI-X 3, and DDR 1600.
I'm going to a 3570K most likely, upgrading from a QX9650 (don't judge got it used w/ asus striker board for $50). I have an intel 520 and plextor M3 waiting to handle OS/Gaming and a Noctua U12P-SE2 waiting to do the cooling.
No, the USB, PCI-X, and Native DDR3-1600 are all built into ivy bridge on the die. USB 3.0 will still work, but I believe it is not as fast since the controller is on the processor.
I got an email from newegg an hour or so ago with this link in it, no sights of actual cards for sale like it advertised.

Speak for yourself, I have a 4870x2 that sounds like a jackhammer when it heats up and am tired of cleaning it out and driver issues. It was a good value for $370 3+ years ago, but I'm ready to move on.
You know when I built my first PC back in '98 I had a similar weird issue. With an ABIT mobo and a Diamond TNT card if I had ram in slot 1 it choked. I sold the card on ebay since it worked in my dad's pc, but right before it shipped I found the problem on usenet and moved the ram and it...
I can't find this cooler anywhere. Unfortunately I cannot afford a new card, and this card still rocks everything I throw at it on 1920x1200. The stock cooler is driving me insane though. If anyone has this cooler and isn't using the card anymore I would love to pick it up.
I got some dudes box used, which helped stave off a new build from my aging E6600 system. It has a Core2 QX9650, Asus Striker II extreme and I added 8gb of Ripjaw DDR3 1600.
In any event... I have this issue where when I first turn it on it partially posts, but USB/Video (maybe other parts)...
Equipping kids at that age with a Macbook air all but guarantess they will grow up to be skinny graphic designers who live out of the local coffee shop. Plus it guarantees he will never play games on his computer ! I think he achieved both his goals. :D
I work in the IT shop for one of their bigger customers, and we are working ditching most of their stuff for open source. They are going to continue to feel the pain over the coming years unless they change it up.
I'll still give DB2 props on transaction processing !
I think what he's referring to is having the silo'd game development. Consoles aren't dieing, but the dedicated platforms are.
In the future I would like to see a platform standard and then each company has their own. Like a dvd player. So Nintendo's would have a 'fun' design with...
I think the focus is more on getting companies to use their phone. They should really just come out with an enterprise OS of sorts with extra encryption and deployment options.
I work for a Fortune 50 company and I know that we have a pilot going allowing a small group of employee's to...
Sadly at the large IT shops there are still plenty of young people programming in legacy systems. I'm 27 and write in PL/1 for a large insurance company, which still has most of its systems in legacy(split between pl/1 and cobol). I know for a fact that our competitors and a few other fortune...
I was on the geeksquad. I did not believe in charging for restore discs, so I would actually walk a person through the process on our demo machines up until the point where you actually burn the discs.
Believe it or not, there were many people who said they would rather just pay to have...
I can def see where they are coming from on the setup/access issues and whatnot. Our IT dept is currently at 6,000 peeps, they have the blackberry's set up perfectly for business usage.
Apple needs to get a hard keyboard, configuration for the enterprise, and develop a custom app store...
That is a shame, all the geeksquad agents took advantage of that, I went from a 6800gt to a 8800gts 640mb for $20. That was the last time I took advantage of it as the people that I still knew there that would order the good cards all quit.
I worked at best buy for 4 years (quit in 2006 after abusing the discount with the money from my real job) and I never heard of managers getting bonuses based on denying price matches.
They got bonuses based on profit margin, but nowhere was it specifically targeting price match denials. We...
I did this at best buy to. When your job security is reliant on your numbers looking good, you do what it takes. The stores all take losses or break even on every computer besides the ultra
expensive units ($2k laptops $1k desktops). I didn't like doing that, and usually we were good...
I'm looking to go to a raid 0 setup for my OS/Game storage. I already have several terabytes for video/photos/etc... This setup will strictly be for OS, Programs, and Games.
I currently have 1 74gb raptor as my OS drive, but with games creeping over the 10gig mark I feel the need to...
I have a T260(non hd) and its amazing. I'm no johnny photoshop guru, but this monitor rocks for gaming and surfing the web. My only complaint is the fact that the monitor is about 3/4" to high to fit into my hutch so its a little closer then I would prefer, would have been nice to have built...
FYI that is still how mainframe is done at work. We are one of IBM's biggest customers, and running massive Z/OS and Unix mainframes. IT SUCKS. Anytime I need to compile/link code near the end of the day the screens are really slow cause we burned thru all the cpu time already and are in the...
