I had a bit of fun converting my old Phillips HDR112 Tivo to a PC:
Here's the list of PC parts swapped into this case mod.... all of this stuff, except the PSU, was collecting dust - prime for a project. (The PSU was $30.00 from Newegg.)
CPU: Intel E6700 Core 2
MB: Gigabyte...
Another case of "if the news isn't great, we'll make it great!". She says that the study didn't track what games were played, then she says that violent games are what's causing the issues. - lol... she's a Jack Thompson fan for sure.
Tom's has this awesome breakdown of different "pairings" of cards to get the most bang for the buck for PhysX.... Excellent read. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-physx-hack-amd-radeon,2764.html
the 1st round of 945's would NOT support C2D - unless the HP OEM board he has says it will, it's very doubtful that a C2D would work in it. (though if you have one to "test" in the socket, for a quick try, it might be worth the check.)
Wow, the benchmarks showed that AMD really hit the mark.... months ago.
I know it's not a "benchmark", but some Folding@Home action would have been interesting to see as well. (this would be the --1-- area where the Nvidia fanboys would be proud I bet)
These items aside, the power and...
I've been experiencing some artifacts with my nice new HD4870 in WoW (not a super demanding game) and would like to see if any [H] readers have experienced this and found a solution. (so far I've only seen these artifacts near or over water. )
(my in game resolution is 1680X1050, CCC profile...
Any idea on how much of a boost for folding@home those 800 SP's will provide over the 320 of a 3870?
(after all, [H]ardocp is #1 - this is important!)
just curious.
It looks like my hd2900 will finally be put in folding only box. :)
I tried the microsoft help page (reboots/disk scand/file scans/memory scans..etc)
I only had a couple days and had a bad stick of ram in the mix as well. (the bad stick was installed post the initial installation, but got me some wicked BSODs)
Once the "re-roll" was done, all of the...
...is this common with the x1900XT 512mb?
My Asus brand X1900XT 512MB card had been running flawlessly in my system for 13 months.
On Sunday morning, after what looked like a normal boot up, the screen displayed "no input signal".
I rebooted into "VGA mode" and removed the ATI software...
The green wire and any black wire are the 2 wires at the mobo connector that need to be "shorted" to power on the psu.....***NOTE: These wires shorted together FORCES the PSU on until you remove the short. If you power your PSU with this method and you have a mobo or other device with a...
Make sure the HSF is seated "squarly" on the cpu.
If there is only partial contact, the system will receive just enough benefit from the HSF to let the system have a "teaser" P.O.S.T. - remove the HSF to verify that the thermal paste or pad has made even contact - if it's a pad - carefully...
My eVGA card lasted 4 days - I ran loads of tests and underclocked lots of items to see if I could nail down a problem or 2....Underclocking my CPU/PCI-e buss made no difference...Underclocking the 7900gt to 500/700, reboot, then clocking back to default (580/790), reboot was a no go, but...
