I have distilled only with a kill coil, all copper blocks. About a month in on this fill and nothing is growing that I can see. I think if you use glycol, you need to have it really diluted. Personally, I will stay with Distilled and some kind of biocide (kill coil most likely) until I have a...
If you get an enclosed system from corsair or something, i would feel pretty confident that it will run up to and past its warranty unless, like DeathPrincess said, your pump fails.
Yeah, Thubans like the base clock overclocks much better. I have mine at 15.5x265mhz and its way more stable (and faster in benches, thank you cpu/nb) than 20.5x200mhz. I cant speak much for bulldozer as I have no experience, but I think they are along the same lines.
1055t is locked, ie not a BE... The 1100's have been out of stock for a few weeks now, seems like they are spooling down thuban production. If you can find a 1090T (black edition) then grab that, otherwise you might be better off with an 8120 if you do the transcoding and whatnot. If you are...
I did something similar with my 932 -- I removed the HDD space, cut a hole in the bottom of the 5.25" bays, then ran a 360 rad on the front. I have pretty close to the same loop as the as you will have, but I put a rad in between my GPUs and CPU. I have great temps -- gpus are around 42 fully...
Great event! I only made off with a game, no hardware, but I still had a great time. I think this event has some legs and I would love to see it turn into a weekend event with a BYOC one day (if the powers that be would have it). I think the sheer amount of giveaways, breakout sessions, and...
I am starting to think this may be the last time i ever buy anything from linksys... this thing is pissin me off, I've tried every possible way to print to it and it just wont work.
I've got my Linksys WPS54G print server set up and it seems to be working fine when I am running windows, but for some reason, when I am in my Suse linux environment, I can't seem to get the two to talk nice to eachother. Is there anyone out there that has gotten this print server to play nice...
I dont know about via a wireless link, but with Ethernet you could set something up to use the Wake On Lan feature of your nic. I dont know if this will work wirelessly. I would suggest getting a small print server for upstairs though, minimal headache, and minimal power usage (since you said...
Hmm, I've still got my WRT54G that I got about 2 and a half years ago, not sure what version I think its hardware version 3, and it hasnt given me any problems at all, and its running the linksys firmware. Maybe see if you can find a earlier hardware version on ebay or something?
I just started as a full time employee at a university library IT department. Our on call is twice per rotation (the number of admins x 2 = one rotation, around 10-12 wk rotations)
So I would be on call 2 weeks out of 12, and theres no extra compensation that I am aware of. I read earlier...

Get a motherboard that can boot from a usb key or get a IDE->CF converter (i did the IDE->CF route) and boot off of flash.
I'm using the software RAID5 and it seems to work just like it should. If you've got the money though, I would reccomend getting a hardware raid...
I would also look into (and am looking into) 320GB seagate drives because they are using the perp recording technology now, so they are a bit faster, a bit cooler, and a bit quieter.
Why windows XP? look into FreeNAS, its a free webgui driven freebsd based distrobution that turns your computer into all sorts of servers, and its extremely easy to use. It is a little rough around the edges, but seems like its on the right road to getting really really nice...
Just out of curiosity, since I havent been able to try that specific setup yet, how bad is it when you saturate the PCI bus with that many drives on it? I was planning on setting up something similar with a Piii 600 and a bunch of sata drives on those cheap syba cards as a stepping stone to a...

Stick a Gig of ram in there, and load up with four of these:

on the onboard controller, Software RAID5...
Im not sure of the exact configuration, but you should be able to set that drive up as a single drive. I've never heard of a raid controller forcing you to use the raid feature, I thought that you could always set drives up as singles.
Nice case huh? I love mine. I didnt go watercooling with it though, good luck with that though. And its lighter than your other case?! I dont even want to know how heavy that mother was!
Something that I was thinking of doing with my setup whenever I build was to build a dedicated file server, with some odd number of drives in a nice little raid 5 (software or hardware, not sure yet). Then I would put together another server, close to identical, if not identical, and I would...
Look at HP. I just ordered myself a HP Presario dv5000t series that I customized. It doesnt come with a 7200rpm drive, but you can upgrade that. It has real graphics, although not stellar at geforce go 7400 level. I got mine with a gig of ram, 60gb hard drive, 7400, and a core duo t2250...
I've got a seagate and it always reports fitness at like 70% IIRC, I think ive heard in places that the seagates always report the fitness low but its not a problem. I've had my seagate for at least two years and I havent had any problems what so ever with it.
About the adapter question, I...
Eh, I wouldnt buy from best buy. I recently was laptop shopping and ended up ordering a custom one from HP because all the ones in the store were way overpriced. I dont know what it is, but if you get it customized, its cheaper and will be exactly what you want (well to a degree)
And yeah, I...
That front grille thing is a great idea, thats probably one of the coolest ideas ive ever seen, because personally I like the sleek looking not-so-loud on the eyes look. Great work man, you should make a howto or something on how you did that exactly, I know I would eat it up
I am personally looking at getting one of the HP dv5000t series notebooks, customized. The price is right and it can come with dedicated graphics and pretty nice specs. Looks like it would be ready to run vista, and can take a core 2 duo upgrade in the future...
Thats why personally, I am going to have a dedicated PIII system, loaded up with ram and regular sata controllers and I am going to make a software raid. I'm thinking of it as a stepping stone.
I've read that the 7200.10 320's are quiet, but maybe im wrong.
I would tend to think that faster drives would translate to a faster array, yes. However, when writing I think that your speed will depend heavilly on the CPU/RAM and their interconnect speed, since you say that parity will be...
I *believe* that you can add a second drive later on and build a raid 1 array off of the first drive, since it is just a mirror. You would not be able to build a raid 0 array (not that you would want to) because thats striping. I dont think that you would be able to use that card on its own to...
I used to have the lanboy that you mentioned. I liked it alot, but I had it when all I had was a AthonXP 3000+ and a ATi 9600, so there wasnt as much heat. I dont think that it would have a problem with your set up, just gotta make sure that you've got your fans blowing good. The carrying...
