WinXP 64 pro doesn't install anything from MS that isn't a crit update...because you need the Genuine Windows Widget to confirm you have a legit copy, and that widget doesn't work on Win64 XP.

Can't answer that reliably, but I'd be EXCEEDINGLY suprised if you lost data and documents...you may need to get new programs, but those should be few and far between, because you're SUPPOSED to be able to run older programs on this (like you are on XP...YMMV)

On a side note, the public beta of Vista is theoretically going to be available any day now (assuming the delay didn't push that back), if you want to dual boot and only use Vista for that one thing.
