    The Sager 5760 (17" WS, 7900GTX 512M, intel core duo) is UPGRADEABLE to Merom with NO bios flash needed. So you can get it now and throw a Merom chip in it next year after the prices drop and they work any kinks out. Not the machine you were looking at, but still a powerful notebook.

    Prefered laptop manufacturers

    IBMs tend not to have gaming video cards in them.. You might also want to look at Clevo laptops. They are the ODM for many boutique laptop companies, including Sager and Alienware. I wouldn't recommend getting one thru alienware cuz of their historically crappy service and overpricing...

    Ummm, duh? Of course if you try to put a 4:3 res on a 16:10 screen it has to stretch it to make it fit. that's why the native res is 1440x900. It's a W I D E screen monitor, you need to use widescreen resolution.
