Sorry, the 6400 is $224.00 right now on newegg. The 6600 is $317.
The only thing that's holding me back from opening my wallet right now is the question: what to do with my current rig.
1. Sell it.
2. Keep it as a backup.
Thanks for the responses guys. You're right, buy budget isn't that large and agreed that a C2D system would be better. I believe the 6600 is $222.00 if I'm not mistaken. For $40 more, it's a lot more processor for the money.
I would like to get 2gigs of memory though for gaming. Which...
I am looking to build a new system with the money that I received from Christmas and such. Here is what I have so far.

CNQ - No.
File indexing - How can I find that out?
AVG - I just reset all of the preferences to stop all sorts of scans and set them to run weekly instead of daily.
Thanks for the link. I formatted a fresh copy around 4 months ago. I have all Windows Updates. I asked a friend of mine and said that a motherboard bios flash could cure it, but I have the latest bios already. I'm stumped.
Ok here's the problem: When I open my task manager I only have 29 processes running without my music and internet. Yet, my CPU usage percentage NEVER goes below 36%.
My specs are as follows:
AMD Dual core 3800+ Manchester (not overclocked... yet)
2 gigs of Corsair ValueSelect CAS...
I have an ATI All In Wonder X800 AGP that has never been overclocked in excellent condition.
I am upgrading my motherboard and going PCI-E and am looking for a 7900GTX.
If anyone is interested or would like to ask a question about price, feel free to PM me.
I can't seem to find the right chipset drivers for my EPoX motherboard. I just reformatted Windows XP Professional with SP2 and I lost the CD with all my drivers on it.

This is the motherboard I have, and I have a dual core...
If that is the case, did this person need to do any type of modifications to make it fit, or no.
I remember a friend saying that some Zalman coolers need special types of adapters for their products. I'm unsure if this is true or not.
I posted this question in a different part of the site and got no good responses. It seems that all of the Zalman coolers and such don't fit the AIW series. I'm gonna keep looking though and bookmark this thread hopefully someone will have some advice for us.
Yes, actually I did. The reason I posted was because I would like to know which is the best one. There are a few good ones up there, but none of them sound like the best. Each of them have their own advantage. If someone were to simply say, "X is the one that will help you out the most." That...
I have a request to make. I would like to know what is the best method of cooling my video card
It's ALWAYS running extremely hot. The stock fan on it seems to be working fine, but I would like to invest in a higher quality fan to unsure its performance.
Thanks for any and all help.

I am looking to buy a new CPU in the very near future (hopefully on the 24th, due to AMD's price drops) because my Celeron (go ahead, everyone laugh) is pretty crappy.
I have a few CPU's in mind for the change. Dual Core AMD
And a Single Core AMD
A friend is giving me his ASUS...
Thanks for the imput guys. After reading everything, I'm going to look into waiting a week or so and save another $60 or so dollars and get a duel core 3800+.
With 2 gigs of Corsair valueselect RAM and a Zalman aftermarket cooler I should be able to do some big things. The (not sure if...
I am going to purchase a new AMD CPU very soon, most likely within the week and would like to get some opinions on my situation.
I currently have an Intel *hangs head in shame* and I have around $250 to work with in buying a new CPU. I am looking at 2 different CPU's though. The motherboard...
Ouch...That's some good proof you got there. I think that just made a big difference in what my next upgrade is. CPU for sure. Thanks a lot for that one. With that in mind, it's time to start saving a lot. A 3700+ AMD with mobo sounds good right about now. I guess I'm gonna have to keep...
Ok, so after my RAM came in today...I saw no difference in the game. It must be something else besides RAM and the video card itself. What one of my friends suggested was that maybe I had the wrong drivers installed, but I do in fact have the latest drivers installed. I'm pretty much clueless...
Ok, I did some searching, and came up with this solution, buy more RAM.
1 Gig RAM
Here's my comp specs in case you need to look at something...
Hope that helps.
Thanks.
I just got the ATI All-In-Wonder X800 card and installed it along with the drivers. I bought it basically to play BF2, and the game suffers from constant lag. I'm not too sure why. I have 512mb of RAM, Intel P4 CPU overclocked to 2.38 ghz, MSI mobo and other things. I'm nearly positive that...
I reformatted yesterday and the only issue that I am having is with my sound. I am unsure as to which sound drivers are right.
My motherboard has its own built in sound. I just need the correct drivers.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks.
No, I do not have the item you are looking for, but I would just like to add my opinion to this.
Get a Valentine 1. I would recommend you buy new. A few reasons too, when you buy it new, it's guarenteed to work efficiently and you get a warranty. The other reason is, when new radar/laser...
