Looking into carbon pads...specifically the one made by IC...is it true that they can be inferior to high end paste? Other than that claim, which I am trying to find out more about, I can't find any reason NOT to use those pads...
Hi. It will fit with your ram, I used the same kit, but you have to move the front fan up on the heatsink, so it sticks up higher...make sure your case can clear it...I used a Corsair 540 carbide with no problem...
FYI, I was not happy with the D15 performance. I went with the ARCTIC Liquid...
FYI, I switched from the NH-D15 air cooler to an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 and my temps dropped by 10-20 C across the board for all uses. On Prime 95, where I hit 95 C at the 5 min mark, the AIO cooler held temps in the 75-78 C range. So basically 20 C cooler, pretty amazing, since the...
Thank you very much for the post. I figure sometimes something new comes along and you just have to change your thinking about how things should work...this seems to be one of those times. Thanks everyone for the info. I'll stick with the Arctic Freeze 280s and not worry anymore about the...
Stock cooler? The wraith prism? OMG, I have crap silicon then.....with a Noctua d-15 I hit 95+ C after 5 min of Prime 95 (when the FFT test kicked in....)
OK, so both of you guys are also running AIOs.....I take it you are running all the Prime 95 tests...or are you cherry picking out the FFT, AVIX, etc.? Thx for the replies.
Ok, I am building two 3900x rigs to replace two i7-6700k rigs that I used with Cooler Master V8 GTS High Performance CPU Coolers (Vapor Chambers) for several years.. Went AMD for the first time in 15 years....
I am used to temps (and space heaters as it were) that are pretty low/cool...
So I...
I got the same max'd heat result with Prime 95, and did some reading. Apparently it is to be expected. I have a d-15 and it hit 95 deg repeatedly at the 5 minute mark as apparently it cycles through different tests (I think it is the FFT that is the culprit, but may be wrong there)...
EDIT: The NH-D15 arrived and it fits on the board. Have to jack the front fan up abit to get over the ram, but everything fits. Idle temps in the upper 30s. Not used to this 3900x yet.
Thanks for the conversation in the thread.
I have the NH-D15 on the way from Austria (don't know why...
Not a huge overclocker, but I believe in keeping components as cool as possible for longevity.
Building a new rig with the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero board, AMD 3900x, Corsair Carbide 540 airflow case, and wanted a vapor chamber solution (had too many pumps fail on me in the past), so I...
What I would like to know is why is Newegg the only one with 7950 stock...people can praise amazon or whatever company and dis newegg as they like, and personally, I think neweggs $180 price hike on cards that are 2-3 generations old, within 24 hours, is, at best gouging, but where the hell are...
I would say its more than $100, since newegg is selling, or trying to sell, 7950s for $449 atm. You could buy R9 290s for less than that....
This is really screwing the product price curve.
Fair enough to have that opinion. But my point is simple, without product, they are no good to consumers, and when they get product, they too will be following the basics of supply and demand to increase prices, just like you see the "used" prices massively inflated for these cards by their...
I don't see amazon as some kind of consumer savior....they would first have to start getting products in stock...and Im sure they are going ot be upping prices as well...supply and demand....
Now the Asus version is back in stock, too:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121803
with the price jacked up $40 to $359...lol.
That's nothing, like I pointed out, sapphire 7950s LAST NIGHT sold for $279 at the egg, now they are out $399...that means 7950s are MORE expensive than r9 280s and some r9 290s...
Last week, although sold out, the 7950s were selling for $179 at the egg.
I don't think I have ever seen...
Also, I predict newegg will get more of these...soon...since they JUST jacked up the price on a 7950 card to $400...these were selling for $200 or so a few weeks ago...this is getting sporty...lol.

SAPPHIRE FleX 100352FLEX-2...
TigerDirect is jacking up the prices too...its not just newegg...
I mean, really, what do you expect. They put up cards and they sell out in minutes/hours. They would be fools not to up the prices, especially considering what USED cards are going for on ebay now...
Was able to pick up...
Sold out again at 1:35am EST...so that lasted about 2 hrs or less...lol. I see the prices going up in the future...rofl. Soon it will be close to a 290...
No kidding...my favorite is when I check on my auto notify list, and it lists an item as being "in stock" and yet I haven't received any notification...its downright...unsatisfying...lol
Yeah, I asked newegg support earlier today if they had any idea when they would be getting more 7950s in and they said "no", so I went ahead and picked up a couple of these: ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 Radeon R9 280X 3GB.
The 280s were in stock for about an hour...so, meh...the normal pricing tiers...

Price is jacked up a bit to $259 after rebate.
Yeah, that is another way to go, and I do have the 3 monitors already.
Just out of curiosity, what monitors are you using, and what mounting system? Thanks.
Thanks. That is kind of what I thought. Three cards is a little expensive for me...Ive accumulated the 3 30" displays over a few years. Taking a 2k hit in cards seems a little much....looks like I will just have to wait until the hardware cycle produces more capability per card in a...
With the 2 way SLI, how is it working? I'm not looking for exact benchmarks, just an experienced gamers take on the viability of 2 780ti's pushing that many pixels. Thx.
My "new" refurbished 3008, after a month, had an interesting problem last night. After several hours of useage it started getting "static" like artifacts on the screen. It eventually got so much "static" on it the picture was completely degraded in both games and the desktop. I checked...
Pretty much the same story...Panasonic 50 inch 1080p Viera plasma...xbox, Wii, tv, movies...it rocks 'em all IMO. LCDs just cant compare (CCFL/LED) in the area of PQ, IMO. But it does burn the power and put out the heat...lol
What is the reasonable limit of resolution that a 5870 can handle now...or xfired 5870s?
Anyone got a link or an article? I've seen Kyles review, but Im curious how close the current tech is to the 7680x1600 level...
