That's what I'm using for my OS drive on my home PC and I've got no complaints. 2x intel x18m 80gb ssd g1 in RAID0. Been using it for almost a year now. I paid $149 each for them.
This is not correct. It supports trim while the controller is in RAID mode, but not for drives that are member disks for the RAID array.
Here are my 80GB G1's in RAID:
I didn't take a crystaldiskmark bench of my G2 in my laptop.
You're only getting 3.9GHz on a TRUE? You must be having other issues because I was able to get to 4.2GHz (4.4GHz max) with my Cogage True Spirit with load temps in the 70's. I also didn't have any issues getting 4.2GHz on a stock Asetek LCLC (H50). You don't need water to get over 4Ghz on an...
I got a slight temp decrease with my Cogage True Spirit going from push pins to a Bolt-through. Nothing to get too excited about, just 3 degrees averaged across the cores.
Add a side panel fan
add a pci slot fan
Get a better GPU heatsink/fan
increase the speed of your exhaust fans.
are some possibilities that you should consider.
If Corsair made this it would come with a thinner aluminum radiator. I've got the LCLC single 120mm rad and it's thicker than the H50 and has a copper, not aluminum radiator.
(I need to take better pics)
I never pay MSRP!
I paid $260ish for an XBox 360 Elite combo and sold it for $500 plus shipping.
I bought my current Xbox360 for $299 -100 rebate when they first came out. The most expensive game I bought was MW2 for $54 when it first came out. If you pay full price for anything you've...
Well I need a new drive to replace my old POS Seagate that self destructed... I'm probably not going to buy another Seagate for a long time since they're prone to failure.
Do you guys know the capacity of a 2TB HDD that crashes and burns? LOL.
I think that's good advice. It'll be impossible to match the red anyway. I have some old red SATA cables and they didn't look nearly as good as even the blue ones. Once I decide on the final routing I'll measure up the length I need and pick up some black ones.
Mine did.
What's interesting about this is that my laptop came with Vista HP 32bit installed and I was able to install/ upgrade to Vista HP 64bit using the same key. Does this mean I have 2 Vista Ultimate 64 keys here??? I don't know but I'll probably be finding out soon enough...
how true.
I try to stay impartial though and buy the best bang for the buck. That's why my last system was an AMD 939 and my current system is Intel's 1366. IMHO, Intel is where it's at right now but I have high hopes for AMD.
Anyone else think Far Cry 2 is the most boring game ever...
Well it is "ours" but she uses it 75% of the time since I pretty much stick to my laptop so, her opinion is high priority. But I'm lucky. My wife doesn't care how much money I spend at all. I just have good self-control. Well kinda. The idea to upgrade the home computer was due an impulse...
I've seen it before and it's a big hairy mess. There's a reason you don't see too many PC's with individual wires sleeved all the way to the PSU. Anyway, things look like they're coming along pretty well!
Plenty of room for even the tallest memory heatsinks.
I didn't notice the noise of the cogage fan, it seems odd to me that they (atomicmpc) would say it's 63.5dBA, there's no way it's even close to that loud. [H]ard|OCP rates it @44.7dBA and the fan is spec'd at 37.4dBA either of which...
I'm using 2 types.
26' of small diameter polyolefin 2:1 heatshrink from Furryletters (on ebay) to cover the wire colors. These fit nicely into the plug ends and are also good for heatshrinking the solder connections of shortened or lengthened wires.
10' of 1/4" 3:1 adhesive lined...
It's an interesting idea. The only fan decals easily visible are on the two front fans and those are just a easy to just remove to clean up the look. They're kind of convenient though as you can just look at them to see how fast the fans are spinning. I'll have to ask the wife what she wants...
I bought 100ft. I like Photobucket. I've been using them for years, I probably won't change any time soon. Are you having an issue with the pictures showing?
Ok, heres an update. I modded the Antec "Bigboy" to run on a 3 pin header now. You can see it plugged in above the memory in the...
Take a look at my sleeved fans and see what I did with the wire mess. The 4 pin is backward compatable with the old 3 pin fan headers so that shouldn't be an issue. Although I understand because there are a crapload of un-needed wires on each fan.
As for what I'm doing, my motherboard has...
Thanks guys, but I'm not done yet. Just playing around with the system. As for furryletters, That's where I got mine. $5 per 25feet IIRC.
Case fans just came in today. Decided to go Arctic Cooling because of performance vs. price plus they are PWM which means I can make use of those MB...
Just came across my old xbox setup, back when I was running a Pentium M Qpack! That was before my 3800x2, fx-60, and now my i7!!! The 360 is in the livingroom media closet and has been for years!
I would go with the Mugen2 or Cogage. I have the Cogage and I don't know what you're talking about when you say it's noisy. The stock fan is pretty quiet as it stands but I'm going to be upgrading it anyway to a push/pull setup with some Arctic Cooling PWM fans.
Heck I only paid $320 shipped for my motherboard, cpu, and Vista OS. and my CL7 ddr3 1600 memory was only $104. So that's $424 for an i7 rig through retail edge.
But deals like that are still out there. You can get a 920 for $199, and a good x58 motherboard for $170. $129 for ddr3 1600...
I agree, you should. Then you can OC your CPU and see what it's limits are without the memory interfering. That should help you decide what your next step should be; new memory or new cpu...
Take your bclock (200Mhz) x memory bus multi (6) = memory speed (1200Mhz)
170x(8)=1360 170x20=3.4
You might have some trouble getting your processor to run that fast without a lot of volts. But you can try:
Memory
220(x6)=1320Mhz
CPU
220(x19)=4.18Ghz, 220(x18)=3.96Ghz...
The socket 1156 is for midrange systems with some high midrange offerings like the i7 availible for it if you want a quad core with hyperthreading. Great for the average consumer and I expect that they'll be amazing for gaming given the right components and still come in at affordable prices...
Isn't this a repost? I wouldn't know why anyone would upgrade from a C2Q to an i5 especially for gaming. You'd have to be stupid or have nothing better to do with your time/money.
If you encode then you'd know exactly why someone would step up from a C2Q to an i7. It's funny when people...
I've got an i7 @ 4.2Ghz, why would I step down to a Phenom II? Plus I've got all the parts. If I were him I would consider ebaying it. You could probably get a fair amount for an upgrade if you were to sell it on ebay. After all it is the top of the line processor for the s939...
I'm still wating for some parts to come in. New fans, case window, lights, etc. so I threw everything together for now to test the system out. Got it up to 4.2Ghz no sweat. Testing out the components looks like one of the HDDs is about to give up the ghost so that's another part I'm going to...
