I gave this a shot over the weekend. Uploaded my 166 GB 48,000+ photos. The upload app timed out a few times requiring me to restart it. The app then had to check what was already uploaded vs. what was left. That took quite a lot of time.
In the end it worked and I got everything uploaded...
There is a nice thread on technet where File History keeps creating identical copies of files for no reason...seems to be a few bugs in it for now.
I saw File History when I went to Win 8 but decided I would rather have my full image backup of the boot drive, so I fired up the Win 7 backup...
Anyone tried playing around with this yet? So far I am truly impressed with it...
Starting with Win XP I always had a boot drive and a pair of 1Tb drives mirrored in Windows, not at the MB/Bios level. Performance was always acceptable and I never had any issues with missing data. The only...
Let's face it, M$ is going to put all their time/effort into this kernel. I find Win 8 is as fast as Win 7 if not faster. I use Lightroom a lot and file actions (moving RAW files from folder to folder) is *much* faster now. The system utilities also look much better and give some great...
I ended up getting a new Samsung 830 256Gb SSD and doing a clean install. After I got into Win 8 the first time it seemed to be working fine. Then I started adding patches and programs. I fired up Task Manager and noticed it was not throttling down so I pulled the patches out and it did...
Anyone running Win 8 yet with all Speedstep/EIST/C1E stuff enabled?
My MSI P67A-G45 board with i5-2500K is refusing to throttle down if I attempt any overclock. Win 7 worked fine and it would always pull back to 1.6GHz as expected.
My current OC is 4.2GHz with no voltage changes. Yeah, I...

My son's desktop is running a Q6600 OC'ed to 3Ghz with a GTX460. It has a 400 watt Corsair power supply and runs fine. Watching it on a Kill A Watt it never comes close to maxing out... I say quality, not quantity.
I had a hell of a time getting SP1 on my machine. I had a vLite Win 7 install and SP1 kept complaining that I was missing files needed for its installation.
In the end I had to do an in-windows "upgrade" using the Win 7 install disk to put back whatever files it wanted/needed.
Both of them came off the shelf at my local Frys. And I made sure to *not* get a previously opened unit. It may well be a bad batch of them, but I am done trying to find out.
I was thinking of sending this 2nd unit back to WD directly, but if the 3rd one does not work they what do I do...
That is exactly what I was trying to do. Long story, but I decided to get off the AMD train and go for a rugged MB with a Q6600. I picked the DFI MB because of its features and price. I had a Promise IDE Raid-5 card with 4x250GB drives. The DFI board has so many of its own background BIOS...
I don't know what speeds these POS drives run at, but I have gone through 2 of the 1TB versions on my DFI P965-S system.
Drive loads right up, go into Win XP and format. Start to transfer data over and suddenly it gets slower and slower until no more data being transferred. Cancel the copy...
endpcnoise.com sells Antec Tri-Cool fans that they have pulled from P180 cases. They are really cheap and not bad for the price. I bought a few of the 120x38mm (thick) ones to replace the thin units that came with my P180. Set them on low and feel the flow...
