About a half a year ago I built a new system for myself with: MSI z690 mag tomahawk and Samsung 980 pro 2TB, win11 pro. It's been running beautifully, no complaints.
Today I built a new system for the wife with: MSI b760-p pro and Samsung 980 pro 2TB, win11 home. Same model SSD, CPU, RAM, GPU...

A few days ago, during normal desktop operation, my screen went black yet my computer did not reboot or...
What do you fellas think could cause this behavior:
- reboots without BSOD within 20-60 mins when playing the new Total War or Unreal Tournament
- runs some other graphics intensive games like Doom or XCOM2 all day, never reboots
- runs heaven benchmark, 3Dmark, prime all day/night in a loop...

My gf's machine will have a seemingly random BSoD, at the rate of about 1-2 times per week, and I'm having trouble figuring out what the crashes are related to. Happens mainly outside of gaming, though it has happened several times specifically while tabbing out from the League of Legends...
I don't own any consoles or controllers at the moment, but lately there have been some good games on steam that people are saying work best with a controller (dark souls, guacamelee, dust) that I've been thinking about trying.
There is a good chance that I will buy a PS4 at some point, and...
I've got a HAF 922 case that has front USB cables for USB2 headers. I just got a new motherboard that has a USB3 header and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for what I can do to get USB3 in front. I know one option is to get another bay with a panel. But I also found this adapter...
My tolerance for fan noise has been getting lower and lower, and I decided to splurge on the last item I needed for a quiet computer. Zalman VF3000F Hard to believe I threw away $75, but I guess I'm getting old.
Results. Card was always inaudible at idle, but would get quite loud under...
For all the bitching and moaning I thought "here we go, this is gonna be worse than Doom3, which was awful, id can't make a game anymore, guess this is the last hurrah".
Six hours into the game and I've been very entertained so far. Very solid gun play, great monster animation, fun scripting...
Look, I've never mouthed off in one of a million threads about PC gaming going down the tubes because of multiplatform releases. I've watched with zen-like calm as gameplay has become targeted for the frat-boy-after-a-few-beers demographic, visual progress was stuffed in a 5-year old...

I've been running this setup with a gtx285 for months and everything has been working as intended. Today I put in a gtx580 and installed the latest NV drivers. Enter weirdness.

Hello fellow enthusiasts, I've been assembling systems since amd-k2, but in recent years I've fallen out of the loop. Today I found out about new technologies such as six core CPUs and USB 3.0, and I think it's time to upgrade from my trusty ole' c2d e6750. Can anyone point me in the direction...

So now that I've had some time with my evga 260gtx, I'm at a point where I'm starting wish I had stayed with my 8800gts512 due to the difference in the way their fans sound. Both are fine outside of games, but under load the 512 would spin up and produce a non-intrusive low pitch hum, whereas...
I was right there with everyone else thinking that circa '97/'98 was the best time in gaming, and I still think it was magical, but after sifting through the release time line using gamerakings.com, I was completely dumbfounded; the real king is year 2000, and here's why:
Unreal Tournament...

Bought this from newegg six days ago, but after trying it out yesterday I confirmed what I already knew: I'm a CRT guy forever (going to ride out my FW900 until it completely dies). Only now I realize that newegg doesn't offer refunds on LCD monitors. OOOPS!
