Yeah, I thought I heard the sound of another mower start up right behind me. Now you've got even more mowing power to clip my a, oops, butt with. Well, I guess I deserve it, as I have mowed more than a few in my day. Fold on, I'll take the pain any day, why you ask? Cause we're the [H]ORDE...
I've been working out of town all year, but this has ended now. My computer had started locking up/restarting on Wednesday for no apparent reason. With no one home and no way to access, that put me down the rest of the week for the last 4 weeks or so. I turned -bigadv off till I can fix this...
My sister was married, for about 20 years, to a squid. He made it up to COB on the Maryland, I can never remember which crew. I've been through the boat several times, or at least what of it they can show you. Real interesting, but not what I could do. I am 6'4", I can't immagine the guy that is...
I've got a Galaxy 460, the one with the removable fan. I like the idea, it's gonna make it easier to clean. It also runs cooler than I thought it would. I also like to see another major contender in the card market, especially after several others, 'including Big Friggin Goobs' have dropped out...
I love it, I love it, I LOVE IT!! Some controversy for once. It had gotten quiet and booring around here since that other team took over the top spot.
I'm not taking sides, but remember guys, it's not smart to argue with a fool, cause it's hard for us bystanders to know which is the fool.
Welcome to the Mighty [H]orde, by far the best folding team on the planet. If you aren't addicted yet, wait a while. You'll be checking each update to see how your rig did, and walking around muttering, "I need more D"
Man, sorry for your loss, really. I lost my Dad and brother to cancer, and my oldest sister is now fighting her second round with breast cancer, so I know where you're comming from.
On a lighter note, your inability to upload wu's has let me mow you. I know it won't stick, but it feels good...
Welcome to the [H]orde! Don't think that your output is unappreciated, a year and a half ago, you would have been right at the top of what a single system is likely to produce. It's for the science, the points are just for bragging rights.
PS, we haven't found a cure for the addiction...
Yeah, if they think they will hold it without a fight, they are mistaken. We are still ramping up, we are the [H]orde, after all. We had gotten lazy and I think this is a big wake up call to us all. Right now I can only fold on weekends, but I got a 460 last weekend, and as soon as I upgrade my...
1. Congrats to EVGA for taking the number one spot, however they did it. You have to admit that we had gotten pretty lazy. We have now had our a.. kicked and this will make us even [H]arder. Also, look at the amount of science that has gotten done in the last year. After all is said and done...
Make sure you don't leave the viewer open any more than necessary. It eats up processor power on the video card, I think 25 to 30 percent. This will increase your time to process the work unit and will drop your PPD. My 285 gives me 7 to 9k a day.
Woot! Woot! Woot!!!!!!
Congratz to us on a fine job, and many many thanks to the folders that came from other teams to help. We couldn't have done it without you. You know who you are.
I hope that other team doesn't expect us to quietly roll over and surrender #1 to them. They may take it...
I think it most likely the card had a weekness/fault anyway and the work done by the card folding just made it show up. My 285 has been folding non-stop for 2 months without a problem. I think in the future I am going to take any new card and fold with it a while to test it good before the...
I would say if you are going to use it for anything else while it is folding, go with 12. Mine will run bigadv OK if I do not try to do much else at the same time with just 6. I have had it lockup with the gpu client running, IE with 3 tabs open, VM running bigadv and at least 2 other windows...
Mine just downloaded a P5767 wu 7 min ago. Looking at the ppd, it looks like it has not paused anywhere along the way. Could the problem be somewhere else?
Congrats man. My first love is flying, and while I have a license, I was never able to fly for a living. My second love is all things electronics, and I have a degree in electrical engineering and am working at a job I love in this field. I know what it is like to fulfill a lifelong dream. It's...
Trying to stop the downloading of almost any digital work is going to be as successful as prohibition was here in the US in the 20's and 30's. In case you do not know, during that time, there was liquor openly served at White House functions, breaking the amendment forbidding it. I do not know...
I would like to see some percentage of use with these stats. It is obvious the malware folks will concentrate on the more popular. It is also important how fast problems are patched when found like deff said.
I am currently running my 920 at 3.8 between 55 and 60 degrees and 1.275v. I achieved this without doing much change in the bios. I would like to push it to 4.0. Currently it will go to about 3.86, but any higher at all and it will not even post. More voltage does not help, so it is most likely...
I had thought about an H50 before I bought my True, but decided on the True. The people I have seen that went with the H50 aeem to have an equal or slightly better experience than with a True. My temps run 55-60 deg, but my computer room stays about 65 F in the winter. I put two of the high...
I'm pretty sure if I add ram to my machine it will help, and with the triple chanel setup, I just about have to add 6 more. The time it locked up I had 3 IE tabs open and about 4 other apps running. Right now, I am letting the 920 bigadv machine alone, just letting it fold, but I have other...
Kendrak,
Be sure to let us know the results of your +6 gb ram. I have 6 on my bigadv machine with 4.6 assigned to VMplayer. If I do much at all on the machine, it locks up. I am thinking about upping the ram, and will for sure, if it helps yours.
Thanks
I guess I should ask how long it is sittiing there not showing any obvious results. If you are running the regular smp client in a vm on all 4 cores of a Q9550, I would guess 10 to 15 minutes a step, max. My 920 clocked to 3.8 with HT on, so 8 cores, would do a step in just over 3 minutes. Half...
Yes, now you only need a paskey for the bigadv work units. You might as well go ahead and get one and get it in your clients. If I read right, in the future a paskey will be a requirement, as this is Stanford's way of insuring the wu's you turn in come from you. If I remember correctly, several...
Time result:
For the first one done, it was about 33:35 at the start and slowed to about 38:00 or so by the finish.
The second one, my computer locked up at about 85 % complete: total disgust.
The third one, current is running 35:04 per %.
I don't know what series the work units were...
Nice to know I am on someone's threat list. I hear the sound of mower blades clashing behind me as tjmagneto and Mikey976 come roaring up behind me. I was gonna go bigadv anyway, but perhaps it will help hold them off. some.
Oh well, I guess I deserve to be mowed, I have mowed a few. Just...
Sorry to ruin your day lehmann, but when it posted the 57,000 to me, it sure made mine. That was my first bigadv work unit. As the time to complete dragged on, I was almost starting to wonder if it is worth it, it is.
Fold bigadv if you can get in under the deadline. I don't know about other...
