Just started using this program and have been impressed with the MKV format. However, about a day or two ago I go to the site and it appears to have been taken down. Anyone heard any info on this?
Just a warning on jimmy-rigging parts into an old Dell... I've done this a few times with some old Dell's and run into weird issues due to the fact that they tend to do some weird customized stuff for their own boxes. Take a look inside the case before you start buying parts to see if it even...
Are the Xonar and Auzentech both good for someone who is primarily gaming? I honestly don't wish to throw any money at Creative anymore but I really just want the cheapest best gaming sound card. Would these two still be the top pick for someone who's just gaming?
I think you nailed it on the head right there! :) I take care of 8 computers in total i think but go figure, the one i use as my personal one has the most perplexing weird issues.
I'm pretty its 'the MAN' doing this to me for some sick reason.
Hey Marley if you ever do have...
I thought I'd try MozyHome free version as a test before I bought the MozyPro for my business. Glad I did cause the MozyHome is creating brutal system hangs that have lead to many hard reboots to get out of. Can't even pull up the task manager when it gets in one of these hangs (even though...
Thanks for the great replies all. I'll try to underclock the vid card a bit to see if that solves the issue.
If the underclock doesn't work then I guess I'm shopping for a new vid card. I guess i'll head to the vid card forum to learn what is hot in vid cards right now.
I just installed the newest nvidia drivers, though I'm not sure if I cleanly removed the old ones in the best way...still getting used to vista.
So does it sound like an overheating issue or something else wrong with the gfx card? If its toast i guess i'll have an excuse to go get a new vid...
I've been getting random system lockups and the occasional blue screen on my desktop system (see sig). Typically the system will lock when i stress it out by playing a game such as Left4Dead, but it can also randomly happen when I'm doing relatively simple things in windows such as a java...
I'm finally trying oblivion for the first time with my new rig. I haven't played it yet but I'm thinking that I will be using probably Oscuro's Overhaul since the idea of all the world leveling up with me constantly just seems kind of lame.
Question: Do you guys think I should play...
I have a dual monitor setup and can run a powerpoint presentation on the second monitor in a a continuous loop (kiosk mode) without any problems. However, as soon as i do anything on the main screen such as use any other programs besides powerpoint the presentation will pause on the second...
I just bought the sister monitor to this Hans-G ... the Viewsonic 28". I believe it is an identical panel (has all same features and specs).
I do notice that there is some color shifting when you look at it from different angles but that doesn't bother me personally...I sit in the same...
I just built two puters similar to what you want to build, though I haven't tried an OC on it yet.
Q6600
evga 8800 GTX
2 x 2 GB of patriot extreme DDR800
and for a motherboard i used the evga 680i NF63 board. Here's the newegg link. It has 3 pci-e x16 slots on it which is interesting...
Just built two new puters with the EVGA 680i SLI NF63 mainboards.
When I flashed the mobo's for the two, one of them now has my main case 120 mm fan running at 100% all the time now, which is unfortunately DAMN loud! I went into the bios and it calls this fan 'case fan #2 now' and is not...
I'm trying to find a desk arm like an ergotron that can support a 28" LCD (around 30 lbs) and I'm having no luck finding anything that can do the job.
Does anyone with a 27" to 30" monitor have a good desk arm that they are using and can recommend?
Hey all,
I just hooked up the 37" westy to my puter over DVI. Even at my old monitor's resolution of 1680 x 1050 this thing looks great with nice sharp text. However, as soon as I bumped up the res to the native 1920 x 1080 the screen goes black. Does anyone know what could be going on...
Hehe, that's true. You can see from my sig how old my desktop system is :) Not super frequent on the upgrades! (though I'm hoping to remedy this problem)
I agree with your assessment here except for one thing: I would think this only applies to current games. I'm sure there's a game around the corner that can still bring a 8800GTX to a crawl at 1650x1080. To me it just seems like you should always go for the best vid card your budget can...
I've thought about raid...but honestly since I don't know much about it I was a little antsy about trying to set up a raid system.
Quick question... do you guys still buy/install floppy drives? Is there any reason to put that thing in still? With vista am I ever going to need a bootable...
I would wait a bit longer fog G92 but my home system is on the edge of failure now...and not really worth trying to fix. I think she's seen her day. I can't believe a radeon 9800 lasted this long!
LOL!
Thanks for the input ilkka and isteez. The 37" Westinghouse is a 1080p LCD that works well as a monitor (if u like overkill :) ) At 1920x1080 res I figured a single 8800 gtx or ultra could run it pretty well.
I think you guys are right about the SLI. As much as I'd love to do...
Its been a few years since my last build so I would greatly appreciate any critiques you guys can make to my proposed system. I've been trying to see what you guys have been saying in the other threads so hopefully i did my homework ok. :)
I am a gamer and will be doing a lot of gaming on...
I'm about to build a new rig soon and was wondering about some of the same things as the OP.
I'm probably mis-interpreting you here, but are you saying that the Ultra is NOT an SLI capable card?
I was just going to get a 650i based board to save a few bucks but there's a pretty good chance i...
<---- Another guy who pulled the trigger this morning on this costco sale.
For all of you thinking about getting this deal ($799 at costco.com) remember that it says the sale does end tonight.
As nike would say... just do it. ;)
I found a good price on the Dell 2707... $1085. Oddly enough I found this on Alienware's website! (I would have assumed that the price wiould have been jacked up a bit on thier site)
Here's the link for anyone who wants it: 2707 @ Alienware
That's awesome to hear. I've got my vista ultimate 64 just sitting on a shelf here waiting for my new build and I was hoping by the time I do build 64 would be running smooth.
MS releasing a 32 bit and 64 bit version was silly imo...probably wastes software developers time being compatible for...
That's good news to know. I was debating between the old 3007 and the 3007 HC and I was wondering if the 92% gamut was worth paying the extra money for. Anyone seen both monitors have an opinion on this?
This may seem like a stupid question...
...but why would you want to divide your screen into 4 smaller ones? Don't most apps run in windows that could be resized to what you need? I'm guessing it would look pretty cool haveing 4 seperate fullscreen apps running.
Please appease my...
Hey all. Yep...title says it all. My 2 year old son climbed up on my desk and started drawing on my LCD screen with a ball-point pen. A few big swirly swoops right in the middle of the screen.
So does anyone know what I should do to remove it? I'm reading in some of these threads that...
