Hey all, I just hooked up the 37" westy to my puter over DVI. Even at my old monitor's resolution of 1680 x 1050 this thing looks great with nice sharp text. However, as soon as I bumped up the res to the native 1920 x 1080 the screen goes black. Does anyone know what could be going on...

Hehe, that's true. You can see from my sig how old my desktop system is :) Not super frequent on the upgrades! (though I'm hoping to remedy this problem)

I agree with your assessment here except for one thing: I would think this only applies to current games. I'm sure there's a game around the corner that can still bring a 8800GTX to a crawl at 1650x1080. To me it just seems like you should always go for the best vid card your budget can...
