Update: EVGA shipped my card out today, looks like they upgraded me to a GTX 670. Will my PSU be enough with my current system and will a surge protector be all I need?

Well I've owned the card since December 2012. Luckily it's still under EVGA's warranty so hopefully I can get it replaced without hassle and grab a surge protector and you guys will never hear from me again. Thanks for the help everybody.
So I pulled the graphics card out and it fired right up no problem on onboard video. I think the graphics card is the problem here. I put it back in and it went right back to not posting and spinning at 100%. Now I wonder if the card was just dying or if there is something that is killing it.
It is just a power strip no battery backup or surge protector. The only other things running off of it is my two monitors- that's it. The only other thing plugged into an outlet in my room is my phone charger.
Will post back with findings when my roommate gets off work.
I'm going to test my GPU in my roommates computer to see if it's working to rule that out. Other than that, it may be just shitty luck or its my motherboard. I have a 2 year warranty on the mobo through microcenter so if all else fails I can swap that out.
Another thing to note is my computer...
I'm at a loss here. The house is brand new built in September and I'm running it off a power strip. Actually a different socket from when the first incident happened. Microcenter is currently 3 hours away from where I am at too.
Update: I returned the PSU to microcenter and they gave me store credit with no questions asked. I picked up a corsair hx750 this time because it was the best they had and installed it- everything was fixed. I just got back after a week of not using the computer and was running a dungeon in WoW...
Why does it matter? Most users will be grinding out the levels in a couple weeks time anyhow, you are just prolonging the inevitable at that point. I think it makes complete sense to have the newer greens replace right off the bat.
One word. Arenas. I haven't given two fucks about PvE since I've been 90. I have a blast getting on with my friends and running arenas and trying to perfect my character. PvE is really lame and has always left a bad taste in my mouth. Too much waiting around/ relying on other idiots to perform...
Hey guys and gals.
I want to apologize if this has been covered but I am in a pinch. In October I upgraded my PC to my signature specs, and I have been having issues with it cutting off on me randomly.
I stupidly purchased a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139051 and...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Would like to keep it around $400ish, $500 if a new PSU is needed.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if...
Would it be smarter to go with a Sandy Bridge/ Ivy bridge setup for cheaper and just overclock it? I'm not concerned with the power consumption, and I probably wont be upgrading for another couple years after that. I play the occasional games, but I'm running Borderlands 2 maxed essentially...
Greetings, I'll start off by saying I am a senior in college studying IT. My interests have always been in computers and have been building rigs since I was in 6th grade.
Over the years I've fallen out of the game, and recently now that I am getting into my programming classes I'm starting...
Just upgraded my PC and no longer need these items.
eVGA 8800GT $50 shipped
I have 2GB (2x1GB) sticks of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 for sale, I'll do these for $30 shipped OBO.
Next is my trusty Linksys WMP54GX Wireless Internet Adapter. I just went 64 bit and the drivers are no longer...
So I'm looking for a notebook for my mom.
She wants a 15.4" screen with a webcam. She also wants extra battery and a Dual-Core and at least 2Gigs of ram. OS doesn't matter between Vista or XP. Integrated graphics is fine. I would like to see her get a nice reliable notebook such as Lenovo...
I'm not too sure where this goes, but here it is.
I'm building a PC for my guitar teacher. So far, it's complete and I installed a 500GB SATA drive. I installed Windows and want it to be my personal drive.
Well I need to get the files off of the 2 IDE drives he pulled from his computer...
Well I'm one of those people who "don't get along well" too much with people at Microcenter, BestBuy, Circuit City, etc. They look at me since I'm 16 and think I was born yesterday, even though I've been bulding PCs since I was like 13.
The lady comes up, hardly knowing a lick of english...
well I went to Microcenter yesterday because I was bored (yeah I know, Microcenter ) but they are having $150 dollar rebates on most laptops and an Asus caught my eye....
Specs are
C2D T5450 @1.66GHz
14.1" Screen w/ Built in Webcam
2GB Ram
160GB HD
DVD Super Multi Drive
nVidia...
looks good, but I have the option of 32 bit and 64 bit vista, I assume the 32 bit is a bit more stable?
and would you recommend this over what I had originally posted?
thanks
Hey
I am about to purchase a laptop and I have a tight budget of about 900 dollars. I don't want a desktop replacement, as I have a pretty damn powerful desktop already.
I just want to listen to music, watch movies, surf the net easily, and maybe run WoW here or there.
I would really...
Just 10 minutes ago I was doing my stuff on the computer like any other day, and all of a sudden my sound went shot. I'm using a Yamaha Amp and 2 yamaha speakers I inherited when my grandfather passed away. I would like to say they were about 16 years old.
I was listening to music and all...
I don't really have a choice it's been in my rig through about 2 years of upgrades, and I really can't afford to get a new one. I just want to make sure so when I power on, nothing goes wrong.
I have a question.
I just recieved my parts yesterday,
I will be running a Q6600
2x1GB ram
8800GT
3 7,200 RPM drives
DVD-RW Drive
About 5 fans
Sound Card
and Wireless PCI Card
I'm using this PSU, will it be enough...
For my Birthday/Christmas I will be doing my annual upgrading.
My budget is $800, and I'm ordering from Newegg.
Right now I'm running
AMD Athlon X2 4600+
2gigs of Ram
7900GT
500Watt Fortron Source PSU
ABiT NF-M2 nView
In a Silverstone SG-01
The rest is not important.
Here's...
[H]ey!
I will be upgrading my current build soon, swapping out my 7900GT with an 8800GT, adding 2 more gigs of ram, and replacing my Athlon X2 4600+ with a 5000+ Black Edition Brisbane.
I will possibly be doing some mild overclocking, so I was wondering for those of you with...
