I'm doing just that, so if this offends you then please move along.
Is it just me or is the X1900 series the worst exscuse for a "new" card in a long time? The 7xxx gets bashed a lot for being nothing more than a 6xxx card with tons of pipes. Now look what ATI has done: first they hype up...
Niiiiice. Have you overclock that 170? You'll need to ramp it up pretty high to get the full experience out of your video cards. Shouldn't be a problem though with that DFI board and Ninja cooler.
I too agree, who the hell brought consoles into a PC game thread? Please start a new thread if you want to discuss Xbox 360 versus DX10 GPUs.
Any word on the release date? I love Far Cry, and would most definetely pay the full $50 to get this game at launch. Volumetric Clouds...Interactive...
If this supports Ageia's PhysX...it will be an instawin.
I wonder how many more months I can squeeze out of my 6800...I'm thinking at this point I'm holding out for DX10, since it is so close.
Thou shalt not play any form of online with dial-up.
Thou shalt not run crappy music through mics on xbox live.
Thou shalt not write-off Nintendo as "kiddy"...least thou be subject to the fires of a failed overclock
All I'm doing is running Squid, maybe Clam AV, Dansguardian. I need something lightweight, fast, and a bit newbie friendly as far as drivers go.
On second thought, all I'll be running is SquidGuard .
OK, you obviously haven't been introduced to [H]. Really, it's simple: act intelligent, type intelligent, and don't act like an asshat if you don't want to be treated like one. Rolling your eyes at people is not the best way to get voluntary help from the community. :)
That being said: I...
Something that has always irked me about games is that there is always innovation in graphics and sometimes someone goes out on a limb and does innovation on gameplay. But what always bugs me is the lack of innovation on creating NEW SERIES! Seriously, developers have been reheating the same...
I'm building a Windows XP MCE box that will be dormant 99% of the time and since filtering is such an easy task (only five clients) I figured I might as well put it to use.
I've used Linux-based up until now and although it has worked I would like Windows simply for simplicity and the media...
True, if you started it at 0% the difference would pretty much be very small (except for those ungodly FEAR scores..I'm still trying to figure that one out :o )
There's a bit of confusion in here.
A couple days ago XS got a leaked ATI PR release with slides showing how the X1900XT performed. Naturally, they projected their card as being close to 4x as fast as a 7800GTX/512. As we all know, ATI is famous for doing this. When bobrownik says...
All I want is a Windows-based gateway to go between my network and the intarweb that catches spyware and porn. It sounds like such a simple request, but I have searched high and low and NO ONE makes a product that does this! Either it is Linux-based, or it is designed to share a dial-up/ISDN...
Currently running a 6800nu. What kind of performance increase would I see jumping to an X1800XL? I can get roughly $150-$200 for my 6800nu, so would the money be worth it?
Hmm...it seems that the 7800GS performs right at or marginally slower than an X1800XL. Has anyone here gone from a 6800nu --> X1800XL? If so, what was the difference like?
I have a proxy server set up as a device on our network (Smoothwall, Squid, Dansguardian). In the past I have ran it as transparent between the router and cable modem. This caused tons of glitches and headaches. Not worth it. Instead I'm going for a new approach. I have it set up on the...
Good point, I didn't even think of that. In six months my 6800nu will be basically worthless, but at least I will be able to get ~$200 out of a 7800GS (66% recovery would make me very happy). It will essentially pay for itself! Thanks man.
You know, I must agree with this guy. I feel more than a bit cheated after buying a 360 and half a dozen games and accessories. Out of all the games I own, the only game I enjoy is PGR3. I spend close to $1000 to play PGR3? And then, the only other good game on the horizon is Gears of War...
If you are going to tell me AGP is dead, please push the "back" button up there ^^ and don't threadcrap.
My eVGA step-up expires end of Feburary (currently on a 6800nu). I have to pay for school and all, so going PCI-Express at this point in my life is out of the quesion. That probably...
Upgraded my AGP card right before AGP officially died (6800, right before 7800GT hit mainstream). I'm not stuck, it's that I just upgraded and I'm not going to run out and piss away another $600 on PCIe because it's the new hot thing. Not saying I won't go to PCIe, it's just that I'm not the...
Hmm...good suggestions thus far. He hasn't seen it yet, so I think I have a few more days.
No stain guard on the carpet. Arctic Clean 1? I'll see if I can find some local, I know Fry's sells Arctic Silver's line of paste so they might have the remover...
Looking at the second one down:

I've heard that you can operate Pentium-Ms without any heatsink or fan. Would it be feasible to do so in this case? It looks like it has a PCMCIA slot, I would love to put a 3GB CF-type...
When I log in, computer says I have an unread message:
But...I don't have any unread messages! I checked Outlook, Outlook Express, and Thuderbird. None of them have unread messages. I have selected all the messages and hit "mark as read" yet it still does this. What gives?
