from what you say you should go for the cheaper one. AFAIK the newer one also comes with 1gb of RAM standard. And, the 'older' one that doesn't have 802.11n also doesn't have a Core 2 Duo processor, just Core Duo. So definitely go for the newer one.

umm, i play wow (or used to play. i gave it up going into finals) on my macbook. And i only have the core duo model. Graphics are ok, not stunning, but no lag even in populated areas. So do some hands-on research next time.

ichat allows video and chat. adium doesn't for some reason. but skype is what you should be using for any video/audio needs. skype works on any platform, so you buddies can use it to.
