My hunch is that Nvidia is not a fool to let the gaming side slip like this.
$1599 "founder's base price for the 5090:
70% faster than the 4090, Nvidia will claim it is 100% faster (in selected scenarios) and 200% fast in RT (in selected scenarios).
DP 2.1, a better stronger energy cable...
Granted, idle to low usage consumption is much more real workload nowadays.
But i like my CPU, bellow the Babel cooling tower of the NH-D15 with 2 ippc3000 that try to control it.
Windows 7 ? I BET that we have WinXP controlling some kind of instrument or sensor.
Anyway, small sized reactors are the way to go (just imagine a autonomous independent aluminium factory or chip fab !)
The problem is the boiling frog syndrome.
In the beginning the engine is free till a big threshold. The small only pay above X copies sold, this incentivizes micro and small devs to pursue their dreams.
Then, the costing methods change and now every install counts....
What about the future ?
I got my Crystal too.
After the Eye tracking update i must say, this is the best HMD ever. Ultimate clarity and everything working as it should.
I'm impressed !
Oh yes i forgot, the Quest 2 native games. Those are a NO, unfortunately. As they are an android specific oculus games. AFAIK there´s no way to play Quest2 native games on the PICO4 :(
It is better in every way. The quest 2 is always fuzzy to me.
Yes, as long the Oculus game is installed from it´s store FIRST, you just have to run it from the Virtual Desktop game list (it is completely independent from even the Oculus service, just have the game installed and that´s it).
I've been using this setup (4090 + PICO4 at 150% SS) and couldn't be happier.
Flawless image with VD at 150Mbps at 866Mbps from my facing Wifi router. This setup is currently unbeatable.
103 V+H FOV
Very light
Pancake lens
2160x2160 SS'd at 150%
100% wireless freedom.
The image is unbeatable...
To know the price please multiply the voltage by the amp circuit requirements (always use the maximum outlet setting).
110x30 = $3300
Sounds about right.
