Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management -> Right click on the partition/Drive and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths. . ." You should then be able to remove the drive letter currently assigned to it.

You'll need two video cards, at least one of which has to have dual dual-link DVI inputs to run at full resolution (otherwise, if all you need is 1280x800, single link inputs will be fine). There's no real way around using two video cards for running more than two of these high res monitors.

Actually, flash by default doesn't display on the OLPC. You need to click the flash ad/program to start it, and then you're probably hosed if you want to navigate at all. :D

When you say it's not booting now with the 2x2GB sticks installed, is it not posting, or is it crashing on start up? Assuming you're running a 32-bit OS, you may run into some issues with 4GBs of RAM installed-it should boot fine, but that's not a guarantee. Also try booting with each 2GB stick...

I orderded mine a few weeks ago. Fan runs at 100% constantly, and sounds like a vaccuum cleaner. The noise was not related to the fan grill--I replaced the grill with one that stuck out a bit away from the fan and it's still obnoxiously loud.

How old is it? If it's less than 30 days old, give NewEgg a call. Their policies permit RMAs on MP3 players for up to 30 days. After that, you need to deal with MS unfortunately. Bob from India's advice may seem annoying, but it is your best bet before an RMA with MS.

I've had good luck talking with a rep on in their customer service chat. Will probably work out better than simply sending an email (more personal, but not as much hassle as calling them up).

You probably also have a recovery partition that can be used as well if you can't find the CDs. Refer to the manual for your laptop for the correct key combo to hit during the bootup process to access it (you can get the manual off Toshiba's website if you need to).

I would argue that any OS distro that has package management, as handy as it is, is shielding a lot of the inner workings of Linux insofar as getting software up and running. You don't realize just how many damn dependencies there are until you have to update a dozen of them by hand manually. :P

When smitfraudfix fails to remove it, I find resorting to a boot disk (BartPE being my personal preference) and removing the shitware manually works wonders. A majority of the files hang out in system32. Sort by date and you should be able to recongize them quite readily.

I've found screen size more important than resolution--I'd personally consider looking into a nice 37-42" 1080P set if possible (this is, of course, assuming the 2560x1600 resolution does not have significant appeal to you for other work such as CAD/programming/etc).

As far as I'm concerned, absolutely. No way would I pay $500 on a monitor, paying extra for a warranty, only to given a smaller $300-ish monitor as a replacement. Usually Dell is pretty good about these sorts of things. Did you buy through Dell Home?
