well by the sounds of it all they'll atleast work... really 2x 1.4ghz ain't tooo bad... the 1.4's are 1.7v.... hopefully i got luck and have some that'll respond ok at 1.6v :S.... we'll see what i can do... worst case i dump em for 30$ take a 15$ loss and nab some 1.7 lv's or something...
distributor at work can get me a set of these for a fair price:

according to them it'll work fine on a 603.... looks fairly decent and has lots of copper...
got 2 603 xeons coming in... need heatsinks for em.... anyone ever rig a 939 to fit em? or do i really need to track down some 603 specific coolers? if so anyone got some suggestions on models and where to get em? (canadian prefered)
ebay... gotta love it :) tho for a bit more i saw some 1.7's with heatsinks after i'd already bought the 1.4's bah well.... hopefully they'll oc away any regrets i may have :)
tho oc'ing will be hard without fans..... anyone know a good place to buy 603 spec hsf's? i'll check our distributor at...
just nabbed 2 603's 1.4ghz xeon's and a mobo (the Asus PC-DL Deluxe) waiting for it to arrive.... pair of chips were like 45$ thats insane! anyways they're without heatsinks... wondering if its easy to rig 2 939 style hsf's up to cool or should i find some 603 specific ones? what would you guys...
not BRAND new... but not old
only been folding for just over a month now (started the week leading upto xmas... doing alright i must say), wanted to share my home garden thats keeping my apartment toasty this winter!
from left to right, Athlon XP1700+, K6-2-550,Celeron 600, P3-500...
i got 3 older Pentium Gen PC's missing nic's and vid cards... maybe hard drives....
ones a Cyrix PR150(120mhz) ones i think a P133 and not sure what the 3rd is... they're all AT and have AT psu's.... if anyone wants them they're free :) as is... last i saw they worked... prolly decent for non...
canadian prices.... if i order from the states i get nailed with massive border fee's etc.... done it in the past...not worth it.. and yeah the motherboard was a decent Asus board for like 80$cdn and then 62$cdn for the chip....
thnx for the info... exactly what i needed to know...
local computer shops have some good deals on.... its 130$ for a Celeron 2.93ghz w/mobo or 142$ for a Sempron64 2500+(1.4ghz but will oc to 1.72ghz easy) and mobo....
i know clock cycles are key for good folding but also that the amd64's fold better then the intels.... what would you guys buy...
aratech, whatcha lookin to trade for? i got tons of crap around my apartment i might have what you need.... i'd be down for some trades for either of those cpu's.... (to many Slot1 & S370 mobo's with slow chips on em right now! must upgrade!)
to many ppl with 1-5 :) i've got 12 boxes going (counting borgs):) everyone who selected 1-5 should have the new years resolution to build/buy/borg up to the next option.... wait everyone should have that resolution :)
i got 2 P2-350's here both on mobo's..... i'd like to find better cpu's for those boards and maybe a Dually Slot 1 board for the p2's to toss some more systems into the garden
1 mobo can take a 133mhz fsb p3 of any multi the other can take any 100mhz p3 (p3b mobo)
and then a dually slot 1...
installing windoze on my sempron 2500+ @ 1.8ghz (400mhz oc), once thats done i move the cdrom to my AthlonXP 1700+ and install linux.... and then comes the Athlon 850..... and then comes the K6-2-550 (i cleaned up my apt and found some computers!)
i've heard about p[h]antom... i'll be careful :)
just got a new server in at work this week and the os arrives today.. might have a 3ghz Dually Xeon crunching over the new years break (stress test and all ;) )
my home pc is a A64 X2 3800+ (stock clocking cuz my psu sucks) and each core is pounding things out in a much shorter span then my p4 3.0ghz.... on the same project i was completing 10% every 5.5mins per core vs 8mins on the p4....
