I'd pick THIS up before it's gone... As far as unlocking, I am unsure of the potential. Not much choice now though since these cards are rare.
edit: Personally, i'm not one to bank on pipe-unlocking especially if $$$ is an issue.
The only cons to the 205bw are backlight bleeding & trueblacks and that the DVI signal at times fluctuates. A few others on here reported this issue, but it may just be the stock cord. Other than that, I love mine very much.
I was having issues with this a few days ago - mine would flash like a mofo when I would bring my PC out of idle or on cold boot. It just flashed until I hit the switch button on the bezel for analog/digital.
I switched from 6.6 to 6.8 Catalyst Drivers and it solved the problem.
CCC does this to me too with the 6.8 CAT's.
MY memory seems to only OC up to 792 in CCC, so I just adjust the slider manually and it accepts it. I know I can get the card up to or past 700 on the core, so ATi Tray Tool would be a better option in both our cases.
I've got a 6200 TC as a backup, although I think I might have to bust out Diablo II and Tie Fighter as I only own current-games and I doubt the 6200 would fair too well.
I can only do 60hz on the 205BW with DVI connection (although its 1680x1050). I can't tell a difference in the 75hz of my previous 19" and 60hz on the Samsung.
Yeah my previous card (6800gs) never flickered or anything... this x1800 does some strange stuff on my old LCD, although that was connected via analog. I may install the 6.8 cats. and see if it stops.
I recently purchased the ^above mentioned LCD and on cold boot or coming out of power-save/idle the screen flashes the desktop until I hit a button on the menu bezel. I have it hooked up via DVI - is it struggling between analog and digital signal or something? I installed the drivers for it to...
If the res. on the 19" were a bit higher It's totally a great deal. Its almost as big as the 20" and looks damn nice. Great buys I think (The new "BW" line from Samsung).
Totally. The ability to "weight" the G5 makes it fly across my mouse pad - its like ice dude. The MX518 served me well, but the G5 is here to stay.
I like MS's scroll wheels... they're smooth unlike Logitech.
The floor display was very nice. The first one I took home was f*cked though. When I brought it back - the particular sales rep I talked to offered to let me buy the monitor first (dammit, of course) so if it had stuck or dead pixels again could exchange it there instead of making the trek home...
I commented as an indication that I think the G5 is a great mouse in comparison to anything Razer. I should have expounded ---> Razer feels like cheap garbage to me. If I was as concerned about mouse input like the OP, I would save up for something good instead of dropping $50 for junk. My...
I bought one a few days ago (205bw) and no banding issues so far. Side by side, this LCD seems to be nearly as big as the 215TW.
The first one I bought had 3 stuck pixels, which prompted immediate return to CompUSA. I made them test another one for me in store before I left so I knew it was...
We have similar systems, and Oblivion performance for me was awful (using 6.6 Cats). Your results with FEAR are consistent with mine though and it IS all over the place with the FPS.
* 3DMark06 performance improves as much as 22% on single ATI Radeon® X1000 series cards with 256MB of graphics memory at 1280x1024 and higher when anti-aliasing is enabled. The largest gains are found on the ATI Radeon® X1800 series and ATI Radeon® X1900 series of products
* Call of Duty 2...
It would seem to be a driver issue. Personally, I haven't pushed my card to its fullest yet. ATI Tray tool didn't work for me as XP kept insisting that the card's drivers weren't installed.
I'll probably try again with the 6.7 Cats.
BTW, you and I have identical builds. How's Oblivion...
