Not sure where jpm has been but China's economic growth has out paced the rest of the world for years. By the time my 5 year old graduates HS China will be the #1 economy in the world.
You mean like all those college grads with CS degrees? Enrollment in CS programs has gone down every year for the past decade yet a CS degree guaranrees employment.
when I worked at MS years ago BillG and other tech CEO's were speaking at universities to push for improvements and strategies...
What games do you play? I have an 27" ACD and love 1440p. MMO's, RPG's, action titles are all fantastic at this rez. If all you play are FPS' at a competitive level then 1080p 120hz is the way to go, probably 25" max though.
If you plan on reading alot, 1440p may be too much, text is tiny...
After taking my iMac to work and losing the wonderful display for a couple weeks I'm back in business with my LED Cinema Display. Startech adapter works perfect with my NVidia GTX 680 and I'm a happy gamer again.
Thank you gensplejs for the brightness controller.
Because I think there is far too much positive spin on these monitors.
The Porsche and Subaru BRZ comparison is wrong. It's the difference between a Porsche and Ford Fiesta, imho.
I did a search on Yamakasi, The only thing I could find was a company that appears to be Witech Instrument Co, LTD
11 to 50 employees. If anyone can shed some light on this I'd love to hear it.

You left out build quality and Apple support. While I am usually very critical of Apple, their customer service and support is the best in the industry. The build quality of the ACD is simply awesome. (Yes it should be for $1k.)
The first thing I was trying to address was the infatuation with...
Again, why would you folks buy a monitor with 1440p resolution to play games in a .............. window?
Admittedly, no matter what monitor any of us chooses, we all have to make compromises. To be honest it ticks me off. The industry can certainly do better.
If you are the same situation as many of my lawyer friends, it'll be quite a big longer before you can spend freely.
BTW, after shopping for monitors for my game rig for the past two months, nothing comes close to the ACD, if you don't mind glossy screens.
Apple sells both, because there are no Thunderbolt gpu's and the Thunderbolt ACD requires Thunderbolt, there is no adapter. The only devices on the planet that can use the Thunderbolt displays are 2011 and newer mac devices. Apple has no problems screwing, err catering, to its loyal customers...
That's not my take reading this and the OC forums. Folks are going for these because they are sub $400. Several have bottom of the barrel gpu's that run fine at 1080p. Why bother getting this monitor if you are going to turn down the eye candy? Makes no sense to me.
I just want to point out...
Very disappointing to hear, the Eizo's come with a premium price and should come out of the box perfect. IMHO anyways.
I hope they honor their warranty expeditiously for you and without a hassle.
Keep in mind these Korean monitors are 1440p, you need a top tier gpu to push the pixels at the same speed you'd get with a mid tier gpu with a 1080p monitor.
For many games you will obviously see worse performance, heck, with many games you'll be hard pressed to hit 60 fps, (at 1440p), with...
Parja is correct. The ACD is the only one that meets all of your requirements. With ACD you will need to get an adapter, its mini DP only!
The HP cuts a lot of corners: No OSD at all. Like the ACD you will not be able to adjust the height.
I use a 27" iMac for iOS development, same screen as...
I just saw a couple dozen Sabertooth Z77's at the local Fry's. Did they jump the gun?
Only reason I didn't grab one was that I usually wait for the more eager folks to cut their teeth on new mobos. They were $249.99
This is subjective. Some people prefer the glossy look and some people prefer the AG look.
I prefer glossy. I have a 27" iMac and several Dell monitors in the house. For me there is no competition, games look 1000 percent better on the glossy monitor. Yes, you have to be able to control...
3630 seems appropriate to me. You will actually take advantage of all 6 cores. (The 3960 is silly at $1k). Definitely get 16gb of ram, it's so cheap and you'll probably take advantage of it.
From what I've seen in the benchies you should experience a very nice boost in performance with the...
I'm in an unfortunate situation. Started developing for iOS and picked up a 27" iMac and my wife basically took over my gaming rig while I worked crazy hours.
Now that I have some time for gaming she doesn't want to give up my game rig, so I am forced, FORCED I say, to build a new rig from...
Another monitor to consider would be Samsung's S27A970. Supposed to be out this month, however it has a hefty price tag and glossy or semi-glossy panel.
I'll be building a new game rig in the next couple of months and was planning on getting a 27" Apple Cinema display to go with it when I noticed that Samsung is supposed to be releasing the S27A970 monitor this month.
Just wondering if anyone has actually seen this thing in action yet and would...
In my situation, I disabled the on-board sound after successfully booting the first time along with the COM port (the Sabertooth actually has the connector on the mobo), JMicron Controller and the Marvell Controller. (IOW before I even installed the OS.) So for me it has nothing to do with the...
So ... I'm not the only one who's had their Titanium HD stop working?
I built my Sabertooth P67 based system over the weekend, one morning I boot up and no sound. Some options were missing from the control panel dialogs and I couldn't get sound no matter what. The system seemed to recognize the...
Put my Sabertooth P67 together two days ago, no issues at all. I initially booted with one stick of Corsair Vengeance and set to optimized defaults added second stick of ram. Installed Win7 x64 SP1 with no issues.
Started by updating the Intel INF drivers, IME, ATI Cat 11.3, Intel NIC Pro 16.1...
