Phosphor cannot have dead pixels. They can have burn, or screwed up phosphor. Thats it. It could have a spot burn, but I VERY rarely see that in crt monitors... especially not the fw900. Im willing to bet that this dead pixel you see is something else.

The only thing that limits a crt's resolution is its electronics. And that resolution wont even make the fw900 break a sweat. It will work fine.

Is it 5 seperate bnc cables consisting of R-G-B-H-V(5 cables) or is it RGB(3 cables) or is it R-G-B-HV(4 cables) OR is it RGB in the form of a vga cable? Need to know that before it can be specifically answered.

Only do this if you are suffering from an overbright screen that CANNOT get acceptable black levels by adjusting the brightness. If yours doesnt do that, dont do the fix. This is insanely easy to do... also if you cant find the right resistors just use two or three in a series to get close.

I have had a similar problem on dell p1110 Monitors although it wasnt as extreme as yours sounds. The resistor mod that is so common for these fixed it. You should try it as it costs 5 dollars and 20 minutes of your time.

No you can see much more than 24.... the number you hear most often is 60 but I for one can tell a difference all the way to about 90 due to the high sensitivity I play at.

I know this is basic but to the guy who has the broken monitor make sure the switch on the front of ur monitor that specifies the input isnt set to the wrong one. Just wanted to make sure u checked that hehe

If you are useing a crt and are a GOOD twtich gamer you will not like either. As a former 2405 owner let me say dont get it off ebay or craigslist unless your SURE you can return it. I say go for a fw900. After all... why the hell should you buy a monitor to fit your desk?

Opening up sony monitors can be tough as they have plastic latches that are hard as hell to get undone. But after you take off the grille peice you can leave the rest on but tape off the parts u dont want dyed.

fw900 although its a bit too light it tends to slide off your desk if the airconditioning is on. Some paperweights glued to the side help this though.

Before you go and buy a new cable you can also try a different vga cable with your dvi-vga adapter. The vga cable could be the problem as well!
