From the looks of the way things are going:
1.) R520 will have CrossFire but for X1800 lineup only. (CrossFire master will downclock to match XL speed)
2.) R580 will have CrossFire but for X1900 lineup only.
(520 and 580 will not be able to run CrossFire with other gpu types)

R580 and R520 both will have their own master cards. They have slightly different architecture. Besides, think of the naming convention, X1800 and X1900, X800 and X850 CrossFires were not able to be interchanged. Same applies to R520 and R580.

To help decrease the load time, you can always remove the skin in CCC.
Preferences -> Skins -> System Skin
It will leave CCC looking like the rest of your OS's windows. It helps cut load time by a few seconds.

The R520 and R580 both have 16 pipelines.
The difference is the ALU design architecture of the R580. Its performance is equivalent to that of an asic with 48 pipes. It doesn't physically have 48 pipes. :rolleyes:
