Yeah, no. Drivers were a non-issue for AMD starting years ago. Now they are just as good as nvidia's if not better (I've never seen AMD drivers destroy a video card, but NV had to pull their 196.75 and 320.18 drivers because they were destroying GPU's).
I don't understand how people can...
Update on my situation:
Okay, I seem to be stable. I've been running 4.5GHz @ 1.34v and +0.05 SA voltage for the past few days and I've had no issues so far. Currently I am baffled as to why it's stable, but it seems like upping the VCCIN to 1.9v was causing the instability issues? I read that...
Really? What motherboards have you used? Were you getting similar idle restart behavior?
I ask because I found This thread over on the MSI forum. This guy has the exact same issue as me and he fixed the issue with a motherboard swap. I am not exactly sure it's a CPU problem specifically...
Yeah, Haswell seems pretty simple to overclock especially for smaller overclocks. I only started to mess around with other settings once these reboot issues started happening...
I'm going to try messing around with using voltage offsets rather than setting voltages directly. Hopefully it will...
I tried 3 different sets of RAM and put them all in different slots. Idle reboot still happened.
I just disabled Speedstep. EIST is also now disabled as a result and I just had the same thing happen again, however, I just gave a slight bump in voltage to the Digital and Analog I/O so we'll...
Hi,
I seem to be having issues getting a mild overclock on my 4770k. Currently I have it running stable at 4.2GHz with the following changes done to BIOS. Everything else in BIOS are set to default.
4.2GHz Settings:
Multiplier 42x
Vcore: 1.18v
XMP profile Enabled
With the above settings...
Interesting. I was expecting the X5650 to be at least slightly faster than the X3460. I know it's clocked slightly lower, but it has a higher QPI frequency and it has higher caches. Plus it's newer so I figured there might be an architectural boost as well.
CS:S is significantly more CPU hungry...
Hello [H]ardOCP,
I own a gaming community based in CS:S, and recently we have been expanding. Right now I am running my CS:S servers on two dedicated servers, both running the exact same specs on a single Xeon X3460. Source Dedicated server is very CPU intensive, and it's single threaded. Once...
My friend recently did a clean install of Windows 7 and he started to get a lot of BSOD's. These BSOD's could not be reproduced, and the crash dump was different every time. The RAM was fine. He eventually reinstalled Windows Vista, however, his computer was still running slow. I then decided to...
Why doesn't he try and trim the PCI-E connector to try and make it fit into the PCI slot while he's at it? Oh wait..
Umm, yeah, I would personally try and do what turumbar said if I was low on cash, it doesn't sound that hard, just make sure you have a sharp point. If you have the money...
That is indeed weird.
The only thing I can suggest it making sure the video card is seated properly, maybe try hooking up different PCI-E power cables to it, as it sounds like when the drivers are installed they cannot function properly because of some kind of hardware failure. I don't know...
Did you try running driver cleaner? If not, boot into safe mode, download it, uninstall the Nvidia drivers, run it, clean, and try a different set of Nvidia drivers.
You need to realize that a 50% boost in performance is really significant, however, whether or not it's worth $650 is indeed questionable. Nvidia will lower their prices as demand goes down over the next several weeks, just like all of their other releases. Also, you need to keep in mind that...
Guys, The Inquirer is a crappy source. They lost their credibility years ago as a result from all the bull crap they publish. They say that the GTX 280 is barely faster than a GX2, and they are saying that like it's a bad thing. What the hell? Are they forgetting the the GX2 is essentially two...
