    My BOINC Farm (pics)

Some background: My wife is hesitantly supportive of my DC hobby. Basically, I'm allowed to pursue DC as long as the following criteria are met: She doesn't have to see a room full extra computers (out of sight) She doesn't have to hear any extra noise (fans humming, etc.) I chip in extra...

    What's the big deal?

Hello All, It's been a long time since I've posted in here (years, I believe). I haven't really participated in F@H much recently either (though I've done and am doing a bunch of BOINC stuff). I have recently been browsing these forums and have stumbled across a few people eluding to 'PG...

    New ATi 7.3 Catalysts

Does anyone know if the new 7.3 Catalysts drivers from ATi released today will run F@H without EUEs?

    TFLOPs Graph

Just something I've been keeping track of sinse November.. Total Teraflop power of FAH.. It's growing so fast that this will probably be out-of-date by the time it's viewed, but its still impressive to look at... (might submit it to wikipedia once a little more time passes by..)

    $597 CDN GPU Folder.

Well, siting a great sale at NCIX, I've managed to throw together a boxen for GPU folding at a great price of $597 Canadian.. (GPU folding on the X1950pro) The only thing thats been really sacrificed is the memory (512MB @ 533MHz DDR2), so I will be stripping this thing's services, skins, etc...

Got a new job, out of the kitchen, into a cubicle, let the borg-fest begin! (hoping)

Well, I'll be quitting my current job at a local restaurant where I work as kitchen staff (basically running around like a chicken with my head cut off in a very high-stress environment) - and starting a new job at an IT tech support/help desk service provider. More up my ally, more money, a...

    Folding for Micheal

Last night watching the news, I saw an interview with Michael J. Fox about the controversial ads that he's appeared in regarding stem cell research. Not to make this a political thread, and really, not even to make it a debate over stem cell research - though, I support that research, and find...

    GPU Core NEWS update

Also note that Teraflops for GPUs alone has surpassed 30TFlops of computing power for ~400 GPUs, compare this to 20TFlops from over 17,000CPUs running the linux client! It is indeed an exciting time for the FAH project!

    The "GPU TeraFLOPS count-up"

Stanford has now added GPU core count & TeraFLOP readings to their stats page! What Is a TeraFLOP? A TeraFLOP is a measurement of computing power, and represents 1 trillion floating point number operations/computations per second. Currently 227 GPUs contributing 17 TeraFLOPs of...

Very straightforward question: Which one of these processors yeilds more production?

    OCZ platinum DDR2 800MHz unstable past 533MHz?

I just built 2 identical AM2 systems using AM2 4200+ processors.. 2 GB dual channel ram kits (OCZ Platinum Edition 800MHz). During windows install, a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) would pop up saying "Page_Fault_in Nonpaged_Area" ... "dumping physical memory" which lead me to believe it was a...

HELP! firefox not displaying website images

Starting sometime yesterday, one of the computers on our network's mozilla firefox browser decided that on a select few sites it would no longer display images. Instead it just displays blank space in their place. I tried deleting the cache.. but there is still a problem. It should be noted...

Questions about AMD Dual Core Processor Driver

I've read a few posts that mention the AMD dual-core CPU drivers (available for download from AMD here ) However, I never installed such drivers when building my X2 4400+ (socket 939) system. And I'm wondering what these drivers do - as according to task manager, both cores of my CPU seem to...

Upgrading.. What do you do with your old GPUs?

I always give away my old hardware or sell it for very cheap so someone else can enjoy it - it usually still has some decent life in it and can play some great games still. My old video cards often become hand-me-downs to friends and family, so I can introduce them to the unique and wonderful...

Onboard Video chips to be used for Physics, read this!

Recently a story posted at TomsHardware.com (see link at the end of this post), was talking about Physics in the future of gaming, etc. etc. etc. But one paragraph caught my eye and really sounds like a great idea on the part of ATI. Sounds very promising, onboard graphics, although weak...

Roos have > 500 CPUs more than us!

Check out this graph from their flog-o-whatsit-thingy http://www.overclockers.com.au/folding/images/Charts/mainchart6.gif Basically a 500 CPU gap! Doesn't neccisarly mean we need to gain 500 CPUs to hold them off, but it would be a good goal! ;)

    7800GT distance-fog 'flickering'

I "upgraded" from a Radeon X850XT PE to a BFG Nvidia 7800GT, and have knowticed a very annoying visual problem in Final Fantasy XI.. The distance fog - the 'greying-out' of far away objects to allow for less visible triangle culling - seems to turn off and on as I walk around.. Hills in the...

dream of X1900XT GPU Folding Behemoth

With the launch of this newest video card (R580) from ATi which, like the rest of the x1000 series, has write-to-memory functionality and is thus ideal for general purpose computation on the GPU (see www.gpgpu.org), I'm practically drooling thinking about its potential as a folding GPU.. Many...

    Folding Movie?

Browsing around the web, I came accross this flash movie Folding@Home promo. I thought it was really cool - if you haven't seen it, check it out! And, if anyone with some awsome flash skills thinks they could produce something like this to be placed on hardfolding.com, i think it would make it...
