Just to add my $.02: I did a clean install of Win10, upgraded from Win7, a few days after launch, and aside from the UI changes, nothing 'feels' better or worse. Programs open the same, close the same, goes to sleep and wakes up about the same. Games feel the same (BF4 and Skyrim so far)...
I haven't read all the text, but i thought the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 prohibits 'ownership' of celestial bodies... http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Outer_Space_Treaty_of_1967
I think this came up once before somewhere after companies started selling land on the moon as some kind of scam...
Thanks for the heads up. I thought i followed through the Win7 links at AMD's site to get the right drivers. Maybe i didnt. I'll try again and update if necessary.
*EDIT*
A-HA! The site had a combined link for both Win7 AND Win8 when i downloaded the first time. Guess that was actually for...
**EDIT** When i first downloaded, the link was for Win8.1 drivers but was labeled as "Windows7/8.1 x64". Windows 7 has a separate download/install package. Problem solved!
Just adding my experiences, in that the new Omega 14.12 didn't work for me. Ran DDU to clean out the old beta 14.11...
Sorry i havent updated in a while. I kinda got tired of testing. And then half way through, there was an Origin client update and the mantle stuttering i was seeing seemed to be eliminated. So i'll do a couple more tests with the different presets to check the frame times. In the mean time, here...
I'm going to run a test on each of the image quality presets and see what i come up with. Maybe i'll be able to isolate the performance killer to one particular setting.
Well i started a quick test just to satisfy a curiosity, and this is the result. What you see below is the VRAM usage graph from a GPU-Z log file... using Mantle... on all LOW settings. I jumped into the test range, set the video settings to the LOW preset, exited, then jumped on a full Siege of...
My post-Feb13-patch results havent improved any. If anything, it's worse. The hiccups/stutters started immediately. Freshly rebooted. No change in settings other than to Mantle API. Full Siege of Shanghai server, just after the building went down.

The only setting i changed for testing was back and forth between D3D and Mantle between tests. What i did was have GPUZ pulled up and start its logging when BF4 starts to load. Then while in BF4 i set the in-game frame log file to run and play without interruption or alt-tabbing. I switched...
Okay, graphed my data logs.
System Info: i5-2500K @ 4.3GHz, 8G DDR3-1866 RAM, MSI HD7950 @1100/1250MHz, Win7Pro-x64, 1080p.
Recorded on a full 64 man Siege of Shanghai server.

Thats good to hear. I just ran a match with GPU-Z logging and it does appear i'm maxing out the VRAM (bouncing between 2844MB and 2912MB on my 3Gig 7950) on Siege of Shanghai. I noticed my GPU clock dropping from the overclocked 1100MHz setting down to 1007MHz, and a few times down to 500MHz and...
@Cageymaru, i used the DDU tool to clean out old drivers, rebooted, and then installed Cat14.1 before my testing.
@chameleoneel, i'll update GPU-Z and give VRAM a check.
Also going to see if i can force a 4th cpu job thread or try setting BF4's core affinity to the first 3 cores and punkbuster...
My experience so far (i5-2500K @ 4.3GHz, MSI HD7950, 8G DDR3-1866,1080P, mostly Ultra settings, Win7pro x64): I ran a 10 minute run on Siege of Shanghai under both Mantle and DX11, logging the runs with the built in performance monitor. DX11 was ~66fps and Mantle gave me ~73fps. An increase of...
I dont have a new Radeon GPU, so i cant say first had what i like best about them, but i imagine it would be the orders of magnitude upgrade in performance from my current card.
Hmmm, since i'm still on my 8800GTS, everything about this card would be an upgrade for me, but from an enthusiast stand point, i'm gonna say the Cooling is the best part. Enthusiasts like to overclock, which creates a need for better cooling. The cooler allows for lower temps meaning higher...
My Antec TPII-550 lasted quite a while and i'm liking my small 300 case i've had for a while. Seem like solid performers to me. A PSU/Case upgrade would be sweet.
Yeah, fuck the opportunity to raise funds to improve our failing public schools and infrastructure! Avoiding taxes is the american way! /sarcasm
I guess i'm in the minority in thinking that some sort of internet sales tax is a good idea, as long as the funds can be used wisely (i.e. the...
Martin over at Martins Liquid Labs has an article about distilled and talks about some other fluids. Worth a read if you haven't seen it yet.
