I don't get why people sometimes describe an e-book as soulless. A print book is made from dead trees, hard to have a soul if your dead...
I guess I just don't get the attachment to paper books. I get attached to the stories, not the format. And e-book format is just so much more convenient...
Just wanted to say "Thanks dondan!!!"
I have been lurking this thread since its beginning, and have loved the design since the switch to using an SFX power supply. Its been fun to watch its progress. Damn near a perfect case for me, and any changes I need, I can make myself.
Keep up the awesome...
For a bit more money, you could get a much more powerful setup. Intel's newest low power celerons.

This InWin case is about as small as mATX gets and still supports a decent size video card. I built a friends computer in one, and its an ok case. It does need a bit of modification to get decent video card cooling. I cut a hole in the side panel and covered it in mesh for better airflow. For...
Actually, the M1 is a great case, but a little bigger than I want. I dont need water cooling, or a giant air cooler.
If your current case was wide enough for a full height video card, there would be room for a sff power supply over the mother board, with just enough room for a very slim cpu...
Ever consider doing a bigger brother version of this case? Big enough for a standard height/dual slot video card?
There are several nice shorty cards out there now.
It shouldnt be a problem if you stick to a simple build. A blower style standard size video card, low profile cpu cooler, sff power supply, and only a couple of drives. The only real challenges would be cable management, and optimizing airflow.
I think you guys got it wrong on the video card. The original the OP linked was a 650TI BOOST card, which is faster than a 7850. Maybe you guys were confused and though he was linking a normal 650TI?
Not only is the card a bit taller than reference, the power connector is on the top edge, requiring even more space. Damn. This means the case still has to be 6" or more tall.
Damn, nearly getting tears in my eyes from the pics of the work. I love me some tool + work porn :)
I am loving this case! Originally, I just donated to help out, but now I think I will buy at least 2....
Heck, I would love to just get some of the extruded pieces to play with!
Personally, I would do the case with aluminum. Its easy to work with, bending and cutting is pretty simple. Just need some basic tools, like a nibbler, a hacksaw, a drill, and a sheet metal break (for bending, they make hand held ones).
Cutting long narrow holes in anything is a pain without...
contributed! I want one of these even more than the Ncase M1. In the typical [H] manner, I will get both :D
I really like that this a truly minimalist case. I am also really looking forward to the smaller version with for short cards!
that chieftec/raidmax would not work. single slot only, and right next to the power supply. and yet it wastes a bunch of space at the other end. pretty lame case from the "pack maximum power in minimum space" point of view.
Personally, I think its better to get the quad core, if it doesnt break the bank, that way you dont have to upgrade for a long while. Just a thought.
And there are games that like more cores, like Mechwarrior Online, which definitely likes a quad.
Doesnt have to be a shoebox to be SFF, but it does have to be 19 liters or less. At 40 liters, this case does not belong. Assuming you stick to definitions.
Myself, I think if it is slightly over, that might be ok. but at 40 liters, this case is WAY out of SFF. I have mATX cases that are smaller.
Too freaking big. I am not seeing the point I guess. For me, the point of mITX is going small.
edit: I even consider the NCase M1 a bit on the large side.....
Thanks in advance for any help!
I need a video card for my back-up/loaner system. Gaming at 1080p. Games played will be mostly Mechwarrior online (cryengine3 based game), and some guildwars2, and other MMOs.
Processor is a AMD 965 OCed to 4ghz, 8 gigs of ram. Case is well cooled, and I am not...
I think the 92mm case fans will probably give the best airflow, and be the quietest. It is also easier to get good quality 92mm fans than 60mm ones.
At a cost of about 5mm case length, you can fit 2 80mm fans where the 60s are. I dont know if it is better than a single 92, but it might be.
And...
Hmm, it does look like the current cpu cooler choice might be a bit tall. That cooler is 134mm tall. Current drawing shows the interior of the case at 119.6mm.
EDIT: I just measured a motherboard with that zotac video card installed, with power connector. it is about 134mm from the top of the...
Well, the project is currently on hold, and I don't have any pictures yet.
My current plan is to have the air flow go around the power supply, coming in from the bottom (video card end), and exit the top. I will probably have some duct work for the cpu cooler so that it sucks air from outside...
