The 6600 won't be enough to run most of those games in native resolution.
If however, it is a 6600gt you might be able to run some of the older games with min details.
I'm currently using a crumy old AXP 2400+ and am desperate to upgrade while I still have time to play. Unforunately I have a somewhat limited budget which really prevents me from buying an 939/AM2 dual core.
Would it be a wise idea to grab a AM2 Sempron 35w model as a placeholder and...
If you can't see the text at that resolution then you're going to be better off saving the money and buying a 19".
LCD's aren't that bad when you scale the resolution down in games. Text and desktop is a different story, it's not worth running at any other resolution other than native when...
I like the Antec slk3000b

The fan on the back is pretty quiet when at the lowest level, you can also buy a low speed 120mm for the front.
Another thing you might consider is measuring both the front and back of your current...
If you still haven't broken your budget or you are willing to cheap out on a few parts (ie. leaving out the X-fi) then I suggest getting 2 Hard Drives instead of 1.
You might not see or feel the difference but hey, it's kinda cool to play around with.
I prefer Linux for java and for any programming lang for that matter.
The multiple workspaces really helps you organize things when you have a ton of windows open.
Of course in windows there is the Microsoft Powertoy Desktop Manager but I find that it always crashes on me in the most...
I'm in the market for a new LCD to pair up with my 17" screen.
I would really like to get a 20" screen but there is a ~$200 price gap between a decent 19" and the cheapest 20". (with the exception of the odd Dell deals)
Given that I currently use a computer for

Does anybody have this monitor or have a link to a decent review?
I did a google search and I could really find only 2 subjective style reviews:
This one is in german :(

I'm extremely tempted to pick up the GTO^2 as it is the only viable card in my price range.
However, I tend to upgrade my video cards roughly every 2.5-3 years.
So my question is, if I pick up GTO^2...will I miss out on the extra feature set of the x1800/7800's roughly 1-2 years from now?
Are you sure the Dell is selling for $529? I looked around on the site and could only find it for $599.
If that price is for real, for sure pick up the Dell.
Also, is there a place where you can physically look at the Acer? I looked around at various stores and found very few that stocked...
This probably isn't worth your time but:
Revert back to ATI 4.xx drivers.
I know in some of the earlier ATI 5 version drivers I was getting more video noise than usual and a annoying green bar on the right side of my screen. I fixed it temporarily going back to version 4.12. ATI fixed it...
I know you are still reluctant to go 19 but the samsung 915 and L90 are relatively cheap at this point in time. From firsthand experience I can say that the 915 is superior in almost everyway to my 710N and I'm sure you can find an endless list of L90 supporters here.
Also, dot pitch...
19" are visually more pleasing than 17". This may be entirely subjective but I believe that bigger is always better.
I still suggest that if you can somehow stretch your budget by a few more dollars pick up a 19 instead. Looking back, that is what I would've done if the price delta between...
In terms of screen real estate the gateways aren't going to provide a whole lost more to be worth the extra $300 (after you buy 2)...
Come to think of it with that extra $300 you can buy a 17" or 19" and go tri-monitor.
It's probably best to move up to a 19" since most of them seem to be within your price range.
Anyways, I currently have a 710N which is...roughly the same as the 713. It's Great all round but there are two major faults that I have found:
DVD's/Video's have a tendancy to display with...
The closest thing to $200CAD is the Connect3D GTO. It weighs in at roughly $210-220 BEFORE TAX AND SHIPPING. But that's the best performing card that is close to your budget. Next is the EVGA 6800GS...Maybe around $250-270 or something like that.
If you can't break your budget then you're...
Hmmmmm...that last picture is EXTREMELY tempting.
Unfortunately I do not have the finances to make the step up to a 23-24 inch.
Anyways, I decided to walk into a local store and have a look at a 21" screen and unfortunately I found that it was not adequate for my needs (albiet it came...
For those of you with 20" widescreen displays (specifically Dell 2005FPW or 2001) do you feel that there is enough screen real estate to comfortably put two internet browser windows side by side?
