This might be WAY off, but Kyle / Brent: Is it possible that AMD, to keep costs down, went with less than prime components in regards to the cooling on their 290 / X cards? Also, have you guys heard from any AIB's as far as aftermarket coolers for these cards?
This is some really great information, however, I don't have the equipment or access to such equipment. I think I'm going to definitely wait to see how the Ivy-E CPUs do and make a determination then. Thanks for all the input everyone..
Hey ccityinstaller,
That figures. They must do some sort of wave / oven type of soldering then. Must be their way of keeping us from doing it ourselves. I guess I'll have to look to IVY-E when they come out. Thanks for the info by the way...
I have read multiple forum threads and articles about de-lidding the Haswell, but has anyone tried, or does anyone know of any information in regards to soldering the IHS to the core? Maybe a flux-less paste / hot air process?
I've been thinking about this board. Does anyone know if you disable the onboard sound, can you still run the "red line" and "ROG" LEDs? Other than that it's at a good price point. Newegg has it for $209 w/ free shipping at the moment.
I hear ya. The only thing I don't like is the front fan filter is "built in" to the face plate. You'd have to bend the tabs to the grill to get to the filter. I'm looking at some DEMCiflex filters to replace it. Other than that, the case is mint. I'm not sure if I'll be using the top 200MM, up...
Hey All,
Just picked up a Cooler Master Haf XB. I have a Noctua NC-14 and am using both 140MM fans. Seeing as the motherboard lays horizontal with this case, would it be better to have the fans blowing up and out of the case (drawing hot air off the MB)or down onto the components (cooling...
Just got mine in last night. Very cool, but 1 thing: the front filter is built into the front bezel. Only way to remove it is to bend the tabs to the front grill (which will probably break over time), remove the grill, and then you'll have access. Going to look into DEMCiflex filters. Thinking...
Hey Kyle and Dan,
Any chance of you guys getting your hands on the Silverstone TJ-11. I'd love to see you guys prove if that case is really worth $700!! That's a sh*t ton of money to put on a case...
And thus starts the back-pedaling. Come release time there will be Acer Windows 8 tablets just like all the other OEM companies that want to survive. Ah, politics....(yawn)...
I know this may be a little premature, but the Gen 3 boards that are out now (ASUS, MSI) what kind of actual testing did they do to check the PCI3 3.0 speeds? I cannot seem to find any info / videos on this. Anybody have any insight? Kyle? Dan?
Hey All,
Just checked out a couple of reviews on the R.A.T. 7 Albino edition and was wondering if anybody has used or has this mouse, if the Sensor issue has followed over to this mouse?
I am using the Seasonic X760 and it is the most stable, quiet and reliable PSU I have used to date. I will continue to use Seasonic for future builds too.:D
LOL...Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to pay our final respects to the PC as a gaming platform. Due to consoles becoming the next "big thing" for the corporate whores, we PC gamers are a dying breed. A truly sad time is coming....Are there ANY gaming software companies out there who...
Played for a few minutes (that's all I could take). Canceled my pre-order. Sorry, I'm not spending my money on a "console-ized" FPS. Instead of taking the lazy way out (like most developers do nowadays) make a console version AND a PC version. Making a hybrid shows your customers you don't care...
I've been using Corsair PSUs for some time, but I hear great things about Seasonic. What I look for is:
1. Good production quality.
2. Good Voltage and Amperage.
3. 80+ Certification (preferably Gold)
4. Comes recommended by [H] or Jonny Guru.
