Thanks Gea, I realize my mistake now. Still pretty new to this.
So I should export the pool first then import it RO? Or are there steps I should be taking before importing? Thanks!
One of my drives in a 2 drive basic pool configuration has failed its SMART status. I tried pulling as much data off as possible, but now it has constant time outs and can't copy any more.
What's the best way to retrieve data from this?
Currently on OI+ latest version of napp-it (ESXI AIO) setup.
I did the replacement, but towards the end it was slowing down to around 4MB/s reslivering. The entire reslivering process took over 4 days. 2 days ago, it was at around 96%. When I checked yesterday, the pool didn't show up as listing anything, it just said "Pool Status:" and nothing was...
Thanks for the quick reply and your work on napp-it, _Gea!
How would I physically replace this disk? Do I leave the server on, plug in the disk and then select the bad disk to replace with the new one? Or should I really power everything down to replace it?
I need help with a potential problem with my 2 disk mirrored pool. As of late it has really bad access times (30 secs+) and some of the files after going a directory or two deep don't show up.
Unfortunately I've never fully scrubbed this mirror (or any other pools I have setup).

On my pair of mirrored drives, one disk with smart errors is causing problems with access time and listing of files. Is there a way to shut off the bad disk, retrieve some of the files I need from the pool? My replacement comes tomorrow/weekend, but I need some files now.

I recently noticed degraded performance and decided to check the SMART status of my disks:
c3t5000CCA37EC1CC3Ad0 3001 GB important mirror ONLINE S:0 H:0 T:0 Hitachi HDS723030BLE640 sat,12 PASSED...
Switch it is then. Unfortunately it means another wall wart to the problem.
The other router is a Mikrotik, but I have a good setup on it right now which I'm unwilling to mess with.
Thanks for the suggestions.
My ISP allows me to have 2 IP addresses and I'm thinking of hooking up two routers (1 wireless, 1 wired only) to grab each of the IPs.
Instead of using a switch or hub, are there "splitters" which can plug directly into the cable modem and split into two ports? I'm trying to not add another...
@Gea,
Is there a procedure or proper way to shutdown the all-in-one server with ZFS? No files are being accessed or written to the ZFS pool but I don't want to interrupt anything it might be doing in the background. Thanks!
Trying to decide between the two kits:

My Linksys router feels like it is going to take a dump soon and it feels long in the tooth, so I've been investigating many routes to add new devices into my home network.
The WRT54GS runs tomato with OpenVPN and a black/whitelist updater. This is connected to some cheap Gateway branded 8...
I'm really loving the look of this. Hopefully Victek or the folks over at TomatoUSB decide to add support for this device.
Was about to jump on a E3000 too.
I recently built a Sandy Bridge system:
Asus P8P67 Pro (Factory BIOS)
i7 2600k
8GB mushkin Stiletto 1333 DDR3 Ram 1.5v
MSI GTX 460 Hawk 1GB
2x Samsung BX2431 LCDs
The problem is the 2nd monitor will periodically switch off (screen turns black) and then back on as if it is not receiving...
Haven't built a system in a looonnng time. Kinda out of the loop on so many things :(
Thinking about:
CPU: i7 2600K
Mobo: Asus P8P67 Deluxe
RAM: G Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1333
Graphics: MSI GTX 460 Hawk (Not sure, don't really game much anymore)

The D-Link DNS-323 is a very decent NAS (I have two, would have gone for the 343, but it wasn't out then). It's a 2 bay version (firmware supports 2TB drives, still being updated). 343 is a 4 bay version. 1 gigabit ethernet port (I think it supports jumbo frames), 1 usb, runs some kind of Linux...
Which do you prefer more? Blues or Browns? I know it's a personal preference thing. I just like things to be quiet. I remember typing on those old IBM mechanical keyboards in school and the sound in that room drove me nuts.
Also where did you buy your keyboard? Did you get by without paying...
Is there much interest in mechanical keyboards? I've been reading up on them and it seems they are a niche. I want to try one just like the OP, but getting them from Elite Keyboards across the border seems to kill us with duty.
Just seems like there's no selection here in Canada :(
I thought the beta was fun. Very simple concept, intuitive and easy to learn.A casual game. MP can be very exciting with good team and opponents. I feel the gameplay has a more macro feel to it (if that's what you like), but it allows you to focus more on strategy and keeps with the pace of...
Yup, I have this exact same problem. It's really random.
What has made it better (subjective):
1) Go into Device Manager
2) Under "Network Adapters", Double click "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller" to bring up "Properties" window.
3) Under "Power Management" tab, UNCHECK "Allow the...
The Asus RT-N16 looks like a nice step up from the aging Linksys routers.
Tomato TeddyBear mod supposedly works with this hardware. I'm pretty sure OpenWRT does too. I'd recommend those two before DD-WRT.
Been itching at this model, there's still some features that aren't in some of the...
Was using Tofu/HyperWRT then DD-WRT up until v23 sp2 I believe. I turned on to Tomato and never looked back. This was on Linksys WRT54G/S family routers.
What won it over for me:
- responsiveness in loading pages (web and local admin pages)
- no "heavy feeling" probably caused by overhead...
Can anyone recommend me a PSU for an old machine?

Old 8500GT Graphics card, may put in a new budget DX11 card in for kicks.
I'm going to push this as far as the RAM/CPU will go (which I don't think is much farther due to age).

I'm not sure it will take years. Maybe for software not kept current or developers who are not active in their projects.
As an end user, I'm not really worried that everything be patched. It would be ideal, but not realistic. At the very least, protect the majority of users for the majority...
Yeah, but can't you patch the software that uses those protocols? The protocol is a framework, but you can change things on top of the framework to cover for inherent weaknesses.
