More data: When both drives are attached and the BIOS is set to boot from the SATA the system boots sucessfully. Disk management states that the Sata drive is the 'system' drive. Environment variables also point to the SATA as the OS drive... The drive has the letter of K:, as it shows up...

You need the lightscribe media to burn a pic on the top of the disc. It has a special layer on top that accepts the image. You burn the disc regularly, and then flip it over to get the image on the other side. You can, of course, just use regular media if you want... just no pretty pics...
