Is the rad or the air coming out of the rad getting warm? It almost sounds like your pump isn't flowing enough, there is a clog somewhere(leading back to the first one) or your CPU block isn't seated very good.

The only time modding something to get SLI on the cheap in a practical fashion was the nForce 4 Ultra to SLI mod. That was a physical hardware mod, when you start the limbo with drivers, its for sure going to be cut off eventually.

go in the bios and look for a setting to warn of slow/stopped chip fan(usually under voltage/temp monitoring)

DFI FTW, if somthing goes wrong with the board, DFI kisses your feet most of the time

not sure if riva tuner works for 7950s but try forcing the fans to 100% and see if that helps
