I know they make soldering irons for surface mount components that just use concentrated hot air. That might be what you're lookin' for.

I haven't played in a few months, but it's still an awesome game !! ... I should start playing again !!! I like the fact that it's never the same.
I like to telnet to nethack.alt.org and just watch some of the really skilled players kick ass !!

I'm not that great of a player, i can hold my own.. but the bots sometimes give me a run for my money :)
I know it's no FarCry 2, but Quake 3 is still pure, hardcore fragging fun !!
I've setup a server running the excessive mod (makes all the weapons uber) @ 66.55.131.4

After reading thru all 185 pages I figured it was about time to post my modest setup :D
PC on the left is mine (lowly 933Mhz PIII running Xubuntu) PC on the right is the Wifes (AMD AM2 3200+ Win XP)
Next pic is literally the "network closet" where I have any other spare hardware...
Untangle !!!!!
Check it out at http://untangle.com/
The software requires a modest PC in comparison to other firewalls, but it's worth it !!
I know of 2 boxes setup at local businesses and another at a local school for doing exactly what you speak of and they are fantastic !! I went so...
thanks for the link !!.. don't know how i missed that I was all over ciscos site !! :)
Oh well, so once I reset the password I guess I'll have to get a copy of the PIX "OS" and reinstall it .. doubt I can get the software online without a valid cisco license .. They REALLY want you to $$ pay...
I've recently obtained a cisco pix 525 firewall, it powers up but stops booting when it states its the secondary firewall in a fail over system. It won't let me boot past that point.
Is there a way to restore/reset the unit so that it can be configured as the primary firewall ??
thanks
OK short and sweet...
I went through CISCOs process for resetting a 2501 I recieved but did not have the password for ...but along the way I must have done somthing wrong... although I was able to change all the passwords... NOW every time I boot the router it has a

I too will chime in and say that I will miss [H] consumer, GOOD TIMES reading all the reviews...
Ever since consumer came along I haven't bought a PC hardware mag from the local bookstore due to the fact that by the time I read anything in a hardware mag it was already outdated to what you...
excellent !!! thanks for the links... I also assume the ethernet tranciever will act as a type of switch as well, or will the AUX RJ-45 jack come into play at some point ??
*edit- I see on ebay 2500 series routers going for about $12 !! so is there a newer model that would be more sutable for...
Thank you for all the info ...
I was able to obtain (for FREE) a cisco 2501 router, now after a little research i've found that I need to use the console port with a crossover cable and an adapter to my PC to the serial port (please correct me if i'm wrong) in order to configure the router. The...
I'd like to know the best way to go about starting to learn some cisco technology ???
I would like to just pick up a book and start learning, but from what i've read so far cisco language is very cryptic and better learned by "hands on". I've have seen training guides that include network...
^^^Jason, Very well put.^^^
I agree with your verdict and although it won't deter me from buying a barebones Shuttle, I probably won't be recommending a FULL Shuttle box to anyone anytime soon.
I have to know did you guys run out of time to acctually get a fully functional system or did...
I haven't used any board like this...
It has been my experience that Uli chipsets are hit or miss depending on hardware installed on the board. Personally I tend to stay away from "every-upgrade-imaginable-on-one-motherboard" deals.
my 2 cents.
I would assume you can purchase the...
I've noticed latley thet alot of AM2 boards have an 8-pin connection on the board (usually near the socket) as well as the standard 20+4 pin main ATX connection. Some also have an additional 4-pin molex to provide some extra juice for SLI.
Am I missing somthing couse I don't see the 8-pin...
OK... I can remember most of the NES games I played as a child, but the game I will try and describe from memory slips my mind (the name that is)
It was a top down shooter where you fly these little round ships (there may have been some sidescrolling parts) the one thing I do remember about...
Wait.... What ??? So it's 2142 and we have the technology to hover with "magic light", but only over earth and not water ??? Thats dumb. A little more imagination could've done wonders for this game.
my 2 cents
Great Review and I agree with your final score... But I can't believe how many systems you review that have major problems !!!
Are you just saving all the flawless reviews for a rainy day ??, or are they just that boring.... ;)
I LOVE reading the tech support sections of your reviews. If...
I'm aware of this.
My plan is to run Damn Small Linux from of a 2gig Compact Flash card. Some may ask "Why the hell would you want to do that??" .... Answer: "Because I CAN."
I've also thought about running multiple units in the local middle school, set up as thin clients AKA: Dickless...
I saw this posted on the main page and would like to know how to go about getting one .

So.... If for some reason lets say the top drive fails (and murphys law says it will if you secure them like this).... you'll have to remove ALL 13 drives below it (or futz with some L shaped tool) to replace it ??? ....Craaaazzzzzeeee MAN, Crazy !!!
Good work so far, keep it up !!!
It's good to see that [H]Ocp is doing so much for the industry and making the big (and not-so-big)OEMs step up thier game and demand the support that the customer is paying for (or getting as an added value).
I like the fact that you go the extra mile after the article is released to develop...
