I haven't seen measurements of the Dayton audio tweeters but price wise they're a much better starting point for a DIY :)
In general Dayton audio seems to be good value for money.
Even more worrying than the drop in the graphs is the nonlinearity of the drop. This is going to be a problem in off axis listening in near field and far field with general power response. Otherwise the graphs look great.
The RAAL tweeter seems to be 600-700 bucks a piece. It's a VERY risky...
Could this be the age old Windows stupidity with drive letters? Windows tries to mount the drive to a reserved drive letter and it fails. If that's the case you have to manually change the mount letter in the storage settings.
Limited vertical dispersion makes it sensitive to positioning, the tweeter has to point straight at the ear. Otherwise the ribbons often sound nice (but some have bad distortion problems).
Weird statement considering mail is one of the most common attack vector against windows users. If you download your mail locally attacks can escalate without user intervention through bugs like this...
Just a week ago I used ESET free online scan to clean a friends computer that was running fully updated Avast. 6 different malwares was found.
I wouldn't recommend avast to anyone free or not.
Reformat will make it fast again most likely because XP like other windowses gets corrupted with time when people install programs on it. The inherent pitfall being system libraries and programs replacing them with other versions.
So the more programs you install to XP the more likely it is...
I seriously doubt Vista will ever be favorable since it brought nothing but eyecandy and most imporantly, trouble. XP was a true improvement in stability and ease of use over W98 where Vista makes things more difficult or in some cases downright impossible. Especially UAC is a complete nightmare...
A single process is by default limited to 2gb unless special steps are taken - and to my knowledge no standard app outside heavy database processing is built to take these steps.

No I mean like how we use 32-bit apps that consume 2 gigs at most anyway and practically no app takes even that by itself. That leaves space for the OS and say, 10 photoshops running in the background if you have 3.5 gigs on XP32.
So yes, 3.5gigs is more than enough unless you install bloatware...
It's unbelievable that 20% of companies plan to buy Vista boxes. Those must be companies that use the PC mostly for excel and internet browsing. Or their IT admins should be fired.. two options basically.
It doesn't matter if it works for you it doesn't for him. And since there is no reason to use 64-bits today or for years from now, it would be plain dumb from him to stick to it for nothing but trouble.
I call someone who early adopts a system that brings nothing but problems and no performance benefits knowingly, a retard. If there was actually a reason for upgrading to Vista it would be different - but quite frankly there's not.
Don't worry this is just a lineup that will be piggybacked to strip any human rights from anyone in US using the internet. RIAA has payed important people enough money to get their carte blanche to act against consumers - it's their dream come true. Now every college student who can't afford...
Sure you need matching transformers and sorts but so does that plasma speaker.. I built a 2 meters times 1 meter ESL panel set and the sound is the best I've ever heard from an audio system. The panels have a high directivity meaning that the early wall reflections of the listening room do not...
Too bad BD won it means no HD for my family untill the next format comes. BD is filled with DRM, including the super lame areacode which is aimed to limit competition and enable continental price fixing.
Sony = BAD.
It's not much comfort if/when your system crashes and you know it's because of drivers if/when there are no working alternatives available.
You end up having a broken box and it's not going to become anything else unless viewed through true fan specticles.
*IF* he actually needs 4Gb sometime he can *THEN* go 64-bit. As for now there's no need. Like the extra 512mb is going to make any difference when running 32-bit apps..
*IF* there actually comes an application that requires 64-bit *THEN* he should upgrade.
64 bit offers no performance gain...
Guys if you're interested in high quality DIY audio I strongly suggest to look into electrostatic speakers. Commercial models cost typically 10-20k but you can build a similarly performing pair for less than a thousand bucks.
I've built several sets (and sold a couple) myself. The panel sound...

That homemade tweeter had one serious problem and that's ozone. Ozone is a poisonous gas which is created with the plasma so nobody can run these things too long inside a room.
Acapella uses plasmatweeters but they've incorporated a...
Rofl! There's not a single thing in that post that is true if you count the memory and secure out. And with memory it doubles your memory needs so you end up paying for nothing.
XP32 is still THE only OS to even consider.
Sounds like memory related problems to me. Vista is prone for those since it always loads the memory full of crap. Run Memtest86 for some hours and if it fails you need new ram.
Since UAC moves several files (f.e. ini and mdb files located in program files) to places where they shouldn't be, disabling UAC after a period of use can lead to fatal problems with existing applications.
The only right way to deal with UAC is to disable it immediately after install and keep...
The major issue with any antivirus is how much it degrades system performance while protecting your system from viruses. Kaspersky is notorious for being very heavy on the system, meaning that your computer is already screwed performance wise even if you never get a virus on it. If that's the...
